Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

Gartside should be brave and sack Megson today. His next phonecall should be to offer Jose Mourinho a 10 week contract with a bonus clause of ?2million should he keep us up. Everyone's a winner. We get a top class manager who can motivate the players and Mourinho gets ?2million for 10 weeks work.

I know it's drastic but right now I feel like we have one foot already in the Championship. We'll lose a lot more than ?2million if we go down.

It's pro-active. If we sit around waiting for Megson to sort it out we'll be visiting Plymouth and Leicester before you know it.

I don't see what's so stupid about it. I'm not saying Jose would be our long-term manager....just until the end of the season. Can anyone really turn down ?2million for a few weeks work? It'd give the place a real buzz - fans and players.

What if Mourinho can't turn our average squad into world beaters in 10 games?

We have a relegated club, wasted management, unsettled squad.

He'd have no money to bring in who he wants.

I agree our squad is average at best but surely we have the players to finish above the bottom 3? I never expected to beat Blackburn or Liverpool but it was the way we gave in too easily that bothered me. I just don't see Megson as a motivator.

I wouldnt sack megson, No point in paying him off. I'd keep him at the club and make him clean all the toilets in the stadium for 40 hours a week.

IF mourinho was tempted (stupid even thinking about it) I don't think 2 million would be enough, due to the many millions he'd have to give back to chelsea due to managing a club again within a year

Don't really think you can blame Megson for the position we're in. He's brought in a couple of decent defenders and he wasn't responsible for the sale of Anelka. If we go down it will be because we sold a world-class striker before we had an acceptable replacement lined-up.

ok

but prior to the rovers / liverpool game we'd kept 5 clean sheets, i say those 5 games because that's when he got his own players in (cahill, steinsson, taylor)

in the game where we didn't keep a clean sheet we battered pompey

we played well v blackburn

there was only yesterday that was a real sh?tter as we didn't play well OR get a point (at least we got a point v fulham)

i'm not happy with the predicament we're in but sacking megson now ain't the answer

i'd ridicule your suggestion further but right now we're all a bit worried and not thinking straight

i agree, in both blackburn and liverpool games we have looked solid until going behind, by a ridiculous penalty decision and an embarrassing mistake.

noone was slagging megson off a few weeks ago, or masybe not to this extent anyway!!

Unless Mourinho can put the ball in the back of the net himself theres no point, Megson just picks the team he doesnt play. Its the players fault we are down there along with the fact we sold a world class striker and didnt even replace him at all. We needed at least somebody competent at this level and we got fuckk all. NOT MEGSON'S FAULT

P.S i nominate this for the most fuckked up post of the year so far.

since keeping them 5 clean sheets we then go out and ship in 7 in 2 all that hard work down the shitter

then you'd be jobless

maybe we just need this guy to get us all going

I am sorry pal but that is complete bull. What makes you think Jose can do any better with the current squad with only a few weeks left of the season to go?

Bold statements there.. I don't think Jos? would turn us around in the last couple of weeks.. all we've had is a bad defensive patch due to a stupid penalty and a catastrophic (embarrassing) goalkeeping error.

I'm sticking with Megson for the last 10 weeks, cheers.

Have you ever "worked" under an assumed name before? Say...erm...Natasha perhaps?

If not, and you're serious - which I hope to God you're not - you need an irrigation through your nostrils and ears you tard.

Megson stays. Like it or not.

No need for name calling, it was just a thought. Unfortunately our fantastic Chairman will almost certainly think like you and will lead the way to the Championship.

Sometimes in life you need to be brave, keeping Megson is the easy option here. One that will cost us.

A stato near me brought details of Megson's entire managerial record- around 150 wins in approx 500 games.

In the prem his win ratio is about 1 in 8, with us a little better.

Perhaps shouldn't have been appointed, though it's too late now.

Confidence is shot; just need some backing from the stands and devine intervention

C?ck.

How many times do folk have to see what management upheaval does to a team before they realise continuity is the key? You only have to look at the 3 longest serving managers in the PL are and the formula for success is plain to see (Ferguson-Wenger-Moyes). Not suggesting Megson is the long term solution mind.

Can't believe anyone would be thick enough to suggest we sack the manager with 10 games to go.

If you want to see what happens to a club which regularly changes its manager, have a look at St James Park.
