like many others on here I will still be there home and away. In fact it will probably be better entertainment for the fans. There would be less of us travelling but hopefully it would be a passionate few getting behind the team, even if we goal behind. We have been in the lower leagues before and there were some great days.

 

If the Club went down the route of selling up to foreign investers like Man City I would consider packing in going to matches altogether, that is the way I feel. If the Arabs or Yanks took over I wouldn't feel like it wasn't our Club anymore. Buying success is not the same as earning it.

Unfortunately that looks more like 4-1 than 1-4.

Most businesses have debt in their balance sheet, it's a case of being able to service it. I don't see any sign that we can't at present.

 

If we went down, then we would have to sell one or two players who wouldn't want to stay anyway. So I can't get worried.

 

BWFC is essentially a privately run company so you wouldn't see the signs until it was too late. Now is not a good time for a business to have debts, break any of your covenants and you are fucked. You can't use the "all businesses have debt" line any more IMO.

I'm sorry if I have inadvertently hijacked the thread away from the 'Megson haters' to one of financial management by the club - it was not my intention to do so.

 

What I was trying to say is that because of the huge amount of income the club gets from simply being in the Premiership - the clubs priority each and every season is to stay in the Premiership - and all else follows from there. Megson (or any other manager in his place if he was to be removed) would send out teams with the sole objective of accruing enough points to survive. This would include sacrificing cup runs (by playing weaken sides in the competitions) and not going out with 'blood and thunder' to battle for points against the likes of United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea - but rather targeting more 'winnable' games and concentrating on those instead.

 

If this pisses off fans - then the club will try to keep them on board by doing things like the Fanzone, singing stand, free travel, discounted season tickets, etc - but ultimately they could just about survive without these disgruntled fans - they simply could not without the Sky Premiership prize money.

 

So until the whole system changes, the club - with or without Megson - will still be doing the same thing.

 

Those who want Megson out are basically 'wanting to shoot the messenger' - it is not his fault that his job is wholly to avoid relegation at any cost.

 

If they realise this then perhaps the anti-Megson feeling may grow somewhat less - but I don't think many can understand what Megson is required to do - and thus abuse him for the negatives they perceive.

 

Thus you will always have the split views over Megson - some like me accepting that until the system of funding the Premiership changes then we are going to get more of the same current 'entertainment' from the club - and the others who view if Megson left then somehow things will be better.
