Moderators Zico Posted May 12, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2009 Lets agree to disagree how about summarising why it is you are happy with him and for anyone to think he's not up to it so far, why that opinion would suggest a lack of knowledge of football

jolly-olly
That is the question though I am happy with him as is Megson as are a few of the players who have said so So what makes you happy about him? What has he added to the team?
Guest bwfcdan
You could say that he came a season too late. Elmander may have fitted in better with the football Sammy Lee was trying to introduce. Championship football??

snowball
So basically anyone having a go at Elmander is liable to be told they know nothing about football? Come on, let's face up to it it's not going to work. Firstly we don't seem to play a system suited to his talents. Secondly he is now so devoid of confidence he can't even do the basics right. We have an ?8 million striker who has scored ONCE at home all season (I think I'm right there) and that was in the first game! I know this may not tell the whole story but it is pretty dire. I really do hope he comes good but I have seen very little so far to encourage this hope. The little hope I have is that Megson proves me wrong, gets better players in the summer, finds a system and Elmander shines. Who knows? Hope springs eternal! Tyler Durden
What has he added to the team? Something else for defenders to look at..... hence Davies scoring as many as he has.
Moderators Zico Posted May 12, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2009 Something else for defenders to look at..... hence Davies scoring as many as he has. not sure that's so much elmander as the introduction of a "striker" resulting in pushing davies more out wide and out the way so to speak
jolly-olly
Something else for defenders to look at..... hence Davies scoring as many as he has. Exactly. To look at as he is very pretty . You could put Vaz Te in the same position so defenders can look at him. Pretty bad when all you can say he has added is something for defenders to look at. Guest Holly_Goodhead
Something else for defenders to look at..... hence Davies scoring as many as he has. Kevin Davies has scored 12 goals this season 5 of them were in games Elmander didn't play, including the match against Spurs when Makukula played and Davies scored 2. Doesn't exactly support your theory does it? Edited May 13, 2009 by Holly_Goodhead

Doesn't exactly support your theory does it? And the two he scored at West Ham when Robert Green practically threw them both in the net was obviously down to Elmander as well. I also think he scored a couple while JOB was on the field, so perhaps he should become an ever present too?

Site Supporter desperado Posted May 13, 2009 Site Supporter Share Posted May 13, 2009 If we can get back half of what we paid for him, I would snap their hands off. 16 games without a goal I heard Gowling mention on Saturday. Those who keep saying he will come good, I can see his skills trying to get out, we have faith in him etc etc need to open their eyes. The lad just isn't ever going to fit in at Bolton, he just doesn't fit. He has been given every opportunity this season and apart from a lttle run before Christmas, he has failed to even look like a Premiership forward. I have been willing to accept that he has played his part from time to time this season but fcuk me Mr Nearlyman is getting worse every game he plays. If we continue to play him as the lone striker next season we are in for another very long season. Brilliant Lad, you know what happens everytime you predict the demise of our stikers? Will have to do all I can to get there now Saturday, I don't want to miss the game Elmanders fortunes turn around 3 - 0 Elmander hatrick

adambwfc
And the two he scored at West Ham when Robert Green practically threw them both in the net was obviously down to Elmander as well. Davies x1, Cahill x1 and Taylor x1 scored at West Ham, at least get your facts right. My views on Elmander are that the Sunderland and Boro games in November proves he has the ability to score goals. For me he's now lacking confidence and, oddly, match fitness. Now, in my opinion, a part of Elmander losing confience is the fans, when you get booed every week it's obviously going to affect confidence, I don't think it's the only part affecting it, but it obviously is something that contributes towards. He also somehow seems to have lost a yard of pace in a matter of months. Personally, I'm gonna give him til next summer. Many players have had poor first seasons in the Premiership, and have clearly turned it on in the second.

Easy to post stuff like this ain't it but when we all wait with baited breath from the master of talent spotting you bail out: Its scary how little people on this site know about football. Am I the only one who thinks hes had a good season?does everyone expect 15 goals or something? No, your wrongway wrong do a search on here just like you will conveniently 'forget' this next season, when he reaches your unrealistic expectations. Yes but your previous record of judging players shows you know absolutely nothing. That is the question thoughI am happy with him as is Megson as are a few of the players who have said so You still havn't said what you want from him?You said on another thread you dont watch any other football except for bolton highlights maybe you need a reality to check to what is good and what isnt Lets agree to disagree

The reason he gets stick on a regular basis is because he isnt actually playing very well. Not his fault he keeps being selected, moved onto the wing in the second half then subbed yet again. I dont believe that fans are stupid. Bolton fans probably have more knowledge than most IMO, and they can recognise when a player so badly out of form is continually put in the spotlight to hopefully justify a fee- or not.
