Eddie Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 martins would cost 10m imo He should do, but with Newcastle in the state they are in with every player up for sale and serious cutting of the wage bill needed I recon they would gladly take a knock down offer, my guess would be ?6m. Doesn't matter though because he will go abroad.
Carlos Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Obafemi Martins has failed to turn up for training at Newcastle today. I'd definately take have him at Bolton. Could get him on the cheap too. Daniel, to make things easier, could you just list the players you wouldn't have as it seems you'd have anyone and everyone?
YATESY Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Obafemi Martins has failed to turn up for training at Newcastle today. I'd definately take have him at Bolton. Could get him on the cheap too. Posting 21 minutes after training was due to start is a little premature to say that he hasn't turned up. The 11.30 Sports news on Radio 5 said that Martins was the last to turn up for training having got delayed. There again, thats how the tabloids make up half their stories.

As an aside on Martins he has just earned a 5 k a week pay rise so he is upto 65 k say we went for him we would have to match them, for that reason I am out http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/8129835.stm bottom story,
Sweep Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 As an aside on Martins he has just earned a 5 k a week pay rise so he is upto 65 k say we went for him we would have to match them That doesn't have to be true. he will no doubt leave them and go elsewhere, but whoever signs him won't pay him ?65K per week, they will probably pay him a large chunk of that, and then Newcastle will have to make up the rest of the wage (I think Leeds did something similar wirh Fowler when he went to City a few years ago)
Tombwfc Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 (edited) Leeds were still paying part of Fowlers wages when he was back at Liverpool, three years after they'd got rid of him. That's amazing in itself. Martins is definately the type of player we need to give us something different up front, whether we can afford him, a centre half, a right winger, a left-back and a ball playing midfielder is something I doubt. YATESY Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Tribal are linking us with Eidur (again!!) Bolton return option for Barcelona striker Gudjohnsen03.07.09 | tribalfootball.com A return to Bolton Wanderers could be on for Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen. The Manchester Evening News says Bolton boss Gary Megson is thought to have enquired about the 30-year-old former Chelsea marksman last year. It would certainly increase Megson's popularity rating if he could pull off such a coup though West Ham, Blackburn and Spurs have also been linked with Gudjohnsen.
HomerJay Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Tribal are linking us with Eidur (again!!) for midfield or attack. im thinking ___________jussi steinsson cahill newman samuel ______davis__ muamba______ davies_____eidur______taylor ________elmander _________ never happen though.
Warby78 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 for midfield or attack. im thinking ___________jussi steinsson cahill newman samuel ______davis__ muamba______ davies_____eidur______taylor ________elmander _________ never happen though. Is that Stan Newman from Jonny fow?
Rembrandt Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Have I missed something so far ? In all the rumours about us being interested in various full-backs, midfielders and occasionally strikers ........ where is our interest in a much-need quality 2nd centre-back to play alongside Cahill ? Just asking ....
Casino Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 perhaps megson hasn't realised we need somebody or just maybe the press haven't started guessing i know which i think is the case
Casino Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 oh aye look a whole page ago and theres a rumour about a centre back or does he not count cos he doesn't play for milan im glad cahill came from barcelona cos it just shows we need big names to improve our team

As much as it seems unlikely, this would win a lot of favour with the faithful.

Wasn't a rumour, just someone's suggestion. The gist of my posting was : are we looking for a centre-back and, if so, has anyone any ideas who. Coz I haven't seen any signs of that yet, though I might have missed something. Milan - Inter or AC ? Barcelona ? What the fook are you on about ? Who said anything about big clubs or big names or, for that matter, big transfer fees ? Dunno who's winding you up today, Cas, but leave me out of it. There's a good chap.
Casino Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 more thana 'suggestion' he reckoned we had an interest and just because theres nowt in the rags doesn't mean megson doesn't know what we need maybe one of the under 21s, who i guess will be holidaying
Zozzy Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Gaz knows exactly what type of players we need and what positions need strengthening
frank_spencer Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 we were linked with this chap a few weeks ago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Juh%C3%A1sz
dirty barsteward Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/3904...-FERNANDES.html BOLTON MOVE FOR GELSON FERNANDES 04/07/2009 BOLTON boss Gary Megson wants Manchester City ace Gelson Fernandes. Mark Hughes has been told to keep an eye on his squad size as City continue their lavish spending. So the Eastlands boss is set to let Swiss midfielder Fernandes, 22, leave - and Megson is preparing a bid ?3million bid.
Guest bwfcdan Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Daniel, to make things easier, could you just list the players you wouldn't have as it seems you'd have anyone and everyone? Thats a lie... but if it makes things easier for you i will start now. I dont want Paul Robinson, i think he's shite. I dont want Bodde, anything over ?2 million for a championship player with a dickey knee is madness. Im still undecided on Fernandes...ill get back to you on that

YATESY Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I won't be surprised if Megson has Robinson lined up for having a crack at the centre back.
