if you mean better than lampard, no

if you mean better than mccann, yes

You seem to have a lot of faith in Sean Davis. I actually thought McCann was our best midfield player in many games last season. I know he had a few stinkers, but very few didn't.

i don't mind mccann, gave us a pretty good night in belgrade for a start

and was a big part of the win at boro

but he can't fcuking kick straight and can't compensate by being able to get all over the pitch

davis is a big improvement

We'll soon see

we''ve already seen he can't kick straight

you know we give the ball away too easily

we've got somebody who can pass it better than mccann

granted, me daughter can do that to, but shes too busy most saturdays

Happy to be proved wrong. Not sure about your daughter's committment if she cant give 90 mins every week to bolstering our midfield. How's she fixed for midweek cup matches?

If you mean best centre midfeilder then its probably because he wasnt exactly up against much competition in our squad was he? Muamba played better in a lot of matches but people were too busy screaming at him expecting him to be everywhere, Nolan who had a stinker while he was with us last season and young M Davies who only played a few games. Mccann towards the end of last season was our worst player imo because he cant last a season, early on in season he had a few cracking games but he couldnt keep it going all season. He will be a more than capable squad player who plays 10-15 games a season imo. Sean Davis will be a much better option for our regular starting 11.

I honestly dont know enough about him. Cant say I watched us play Fulham and Pompey and thought " We must get that Sean Davis " But if he does turn us into a better passing side, that'll do me.

Hes no world beater but hes a decent passer and gets about and puts his foot in. He will be a good addition imo, hopefully he can get his goalscoring touch back from his Fulham days :good:

He was a fantastic prospect in Tigana's Fulham team, and they were very much a pass and move side, he didn't look out of place at all with good technical players and he added the energy to their midfield

If we get him fully motivated and he settles well he could be a superb signing, in my opinion

He won't get may goals mind you, we definitely need another player who chips in with a few (or our striker needs to start scoring)

Midfielder Gavin McCann and defenders Danny Shittu and Nicky Hunt may leave Bolton as manager Gary Megson looks to recoup some cash following a signing spree.

Mirror

Read that too bud.

IMO lazy journalism.Maybe Nicky Hunt will go but can't see Mccann or Shittu going as we have a small squad as it is. <_<

May I be the first to say I'll drive Hunt wherever he's going myself? I'm not knocking the local boy, I just don't think he's that good & has been taking a wage for nowt for too long.

I very much doubt that Mcann would be out the door,

so...

knight to replace shittu

davis to replace mccann

ricketts to replace hunt

if we signed a backup keeper, they would be sayin al habsi is leaving.

not worth the paper its printed on!

I thought Nicky Hunt was playing well in the games just before we bought Steinsson...i thought it was unfair to just drop him from the team. But then again Steinsson has played well a lot of the time and is keeping Hunt out of the team so its better for him to leave so he can get some games.

God I hate the fecking media sometimes:

Having bought four players this summer, Bolton boss Gary Megson has done the equivalent of looking at your bank balance after a four-day bender. Once he recovers from the shock and remembers what the entries for 'champagne room' mean, he will be pawning Gavin McCann, Nicky Hunt and Danny Shittu quicksmart.

Didn't realise the Guardian had a full run down of our finances and transfer strategy. Don't think we should get rid of McCann, don't really care if the other two stay or go.

Ah don't let it bother you - they poke fun at everyone

Long may the mighty whites be underestimated

And if folk think we have no cash and we do, it's gotta help with overinflated prices

Let's keep plodding on under the radar...

Like Jules says, just ignore them! I just don't read the papers. Have you ever met a journalist? If you had you'd not read their tosh either.

No, but I've met Gordon Sharrock a few times

from F365's transfer blog

11.42: Blackburn are in talks to sign Algeria international Kamel Ghilas. Bolton and Portsmouth were recently linked with the Celta Vigo striker, but now it seems Blackburn are ready to win the race for his signature.

Never heard of him! nevermind heard we'd been linked
