In my opinion EDL should be allowed to demonstrate if it is peaceful they have gone through the right channels and actually cancelled a previous march not too coincide with an Indian religious day. Unfortunately the Anti Nazi League who have not seeked permision will turn up and create a problem, that should not be allowed. We all know who will take the backlash from the police it will be the EDL despite the fact that the march is LEGAL and despite the factthat the problems will be caused by the presence of the ANL. I am against Muslim extremist as are right minded sections of every race and creed, however I would not march as I feel that there is a lot of hysteria being whipped up by the press over a small minority of idiot muslim extremists. Howwever I would demonstrate against the Anti Nazi League as I feel that they are more of a threat to the U.K. way of life than a small number of moslem extremist

Okay, its all a bit fuck off propaganda wagon and there's many falling for it on both sides.

 

Nazi salutes were done by UAF members who had infiltrated the EDL ranks and wanted them to be tarred with the exact brush everyone thinks they should be.

 

Also if you believe what you read, a lot of the trouble so far has been caused by those opposing the EDL, rather than the EDL itself.

 

HOWEVER, looking at the various EDL related groups on Facebook that I've been asked to join (and have given a rather wide berth) - its fully of ex-terrace hoolie types. Knuckledraggers who cannot spell who have obviously succumbed to much propaganda and think they are part of some "war against the terrorists". Let's face it, how the fck are they going to prevent the next terrorist bomb being set off?

 

The shite they are now spouting about the KFC only using halal meat is quite amusing. The Kentucky Fried Chicken has hardly been a pillar of Englishness has it? I mean c'mon, even I know its really from Mexico!

there is a good point in this thread about if the EDL want to engage in a serious debate and promote specific issues why are they holding a serious of rallies in city centres that can only attract the wrong headlines.

Just to clarify th EDL haven't sought permission as such as there is no permission to be given.

 

As it is a static demonstration there are no powers available to stop it.

 

only the home secretary can stop it and that's why the heads of the 3 parties in the council went to london to try and get it stopped.

 

The missus was on a late debate programme with Lucy Meacock and Tony Wilson a few years back and the ANL/UAF types were outside trying to stop her going in as they had a BNP bod on the show.

Thank god (the white bearded-sort, of course) we've got these lot defending England. I'll sleep a lot sounder with this lot patrolling the streets protecting my blond, flaxen haired, blue eyed offspring from the on-going menace of non-indigenous peoples trying to inflict their ways on me. Granted Frank you know more than me, have you any comments to make on the ANL being the catalyst for the trouble that will occur and do you have a view on my point that the Police will target the EDL just because they are white working class lads? You could say these lads may be slightly misguided with there idealogy, however at least they are doing it for the love of there country,for the police to target them instead of the middle class liberals bedwetters and so called do gooders and a fair sprinkling fundamentalists agitators that make up the ANL is beyond me.

The vast majority of the UAF/ANL mob are white, but i will give you that a hippy type getting a shoeing is a better story than Hoolie type getting a shoeing.

Without wanting to bore people to death, can I recommend reading The Black Album by Hanif Kureshi, its a really funny, good read about how during the Satanic Verses marches the far left felt the need to speak on behalf of the extremist Muslims on a Freedom of Speech ticket following the end of the cold war. BTW there are no 'sides' nor viewpoints - the lefty pseudo intellectuals are painted in just as poor a light as the young radicalised Muslims for being complicit in something so deranged.

What I continue to get confused about is why, if you think that the EDL (aside from the protection of KFC and other ye olde world English cuisine)is an organisation that covers its racially diversive rhetoric in thinly veiled (excuse the pun) and misleading propaganda, contributes to further disharmony between different sectors of the British community by giving a misguided outlet to disaffected, young men who are disconnected with the society around them and whose formation actually antagonises and inflames an issue which serves only to aid the very organisations they say they oppose is Karl blinking Marx.

 

That, and they also seems to attract nutters who wear St George balaclavas.
