Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

Goals from the play off second leg loss at Notts County .

The last goal gave a good view of our away support, decent turn out, was at the game and we were a remote second best.

Agreed, there was definitely a feeling of it was just good to be taking part in the play offs only a couple of years after being in div 4.  I enjoyed both games even though we lost.  15k on at both, at least double the usual crowds, great following for the 2nd leg, and didnt have to get a ticket in them days.  If it had been a weekend match and we'd taken a lead into the 2nd leg we would have taken far more too.

I remember driving with my dad after a gcse exam finishing at 4pm.

we were late ish and a pub on the outskirts of Nottingham was packed with Bolton.

they scored early and the away end just kept filling up

We finished a good few points behind them.

was that the same season we were 3-0 down at home at half time and drew 3-3 ?

No, that was our 1st season back in Div 3 when we finished mid table.  JT and Morgan scored in that game and were replaced by "Bros" the year after.  Tomo's equaliser was a superb free kick, he was quality from dead balls.

We beat them 3-0 at Burnden in the March , and then downhill from there in . I think we only confirmed the play offs on the last day . Notts ended up being 18 points clear of us .

If I remember we had a good 20 minutes or so after half time without creating loads . I remember Cherry's save from Philliskirk seemed better at the time than what it appears on the highlights

And what a night it was!!!!!

27 years?!! Bloody hell!

In 3 years Riochs side gave us some amazing nights

Afternoon off school for this

great times

That finish from McAteer.  Love it. No pissing about.

Should have been 4-1 with Kelly's free kick; what a night.  Even though we'd beaten Liverpool/Everton etc, the Highbury win was stand out because that Arsenal side just didn't lose FA Cup ties, they virtually owned it.

Those were the days when slightly injured players would play in a cup tie and miss a league game instead, it was the cup holders at full strength.

Back from skiing in the morning.

Got made redundant in the afternoon.

£30k and car compo.

Pissed up at teatime, late into the game.

Should have been 4-1.

Happy days.

Wow what a night it was ... I was amazed when I got there how many Wanderers fans were in the clock end.

I'd arranged a meeting at our Turnham Green office in Chiswick and an arsenal supporter in the office told me to follow his car to the ground. He was picking up a mate in central London to take to the game , so I had an impromptu city tour ... We got a street parking spot on the A1 too.

I think it is my top away game following the wanderers ...better than Blackburn promotion and just about beats Hull on the Friday night. The Andy Walker goal in front of us all was amazing. Great post match celebrations in the clock end , helped by the big screen replaying the goals.

The Arsenal supporter even waited to escort me back to my car , shook my hand on a great win.

I drove home to Nottingham up the M1 with a big smile on my face.

I was tempted to go into work in my wanderers top !!

Didn't go, working at Tesco till 8, got home in time for 2nd half on radio 5

And we have just watched that dross tonight !

god that was some night at Highbury - if Carlsberg made nights out.......

Walker's goal.

You just knew he'd put it in. One of the best finishers we've had.

Probably mentioned this on here before but I listened to the match report on Radio 5 and it was possibly the worst ever description of a goal. Made it sound like McAteer had tapped into an empty net from 5 yards after we hit the post. Couldnt believe it when I saw the goal, what a finish.

I love how happy John Motson is that the third goes in

West Ham v Bolton 1997/98

A defeat at West Ham , but it features Taggart getting sent Off for trying to throttle Ludo Miklosko .

I was right behind that, he even thought about what he was going to do before laying into him. Brainless but it was funny

My old man got nicked at this game spent all evening in plaistow police station and we caught last train home

I remember that game went into the boleyn pub after the match don't think I would have gone in if we had won!

Didn’t Taggart end up with a 7 game ban? Admittedly it was lumped in with his ban for another red card around the same time?

Looking in the Records book he played the next game 1-0 win v Chelsea and then missed virtually all of the League campaign until the last 3 Games . Unsure if Todd got pissed off with him , or he got injured but he missed a fair amount of games .
