  • That's the issue, it's atrocious for a top flight centre midfielder!

All he will do for stoke is win the ball back.

Pity they don't want one or two other players

Who like mate?

He couldn't hit any barn doors stacked 4 high and 10 wide...Fact

I take it we're back on the Muamba is shit bandwagon?

FFS a couple of admittedly poor games and folk seem to be making out he's the 2nd coming of Steve McAnespie

muamba is a class act,he is clearly a confidence player and at the moment looks very fragile.if we had alarge squad to choose from then i am sure coyle would rest him.

The problem is, he's only confident twice a season.

He doesn't fit into the system we play and if we can get decent money for him (and find a replacement) then I think letting him go would be a sensible move all round.

Don't like to bad mouth one of our own players, but a defensive midfielder who rarely gets a decent challenge in, gets caught too far up the field and is no better at controlling or passing a ball than a decent Premier Fives player is not what we need long term.

I was cursing him all match after that miss in the first couple of minutes then saw on MOTD that the problem was a poor ball from Elmander.

He's a good athlete and is one of the best at reading a game I have seen but a footballer he ain't.

he has played in every league game this season and we are 7th in league, maybe he aint that bad.

he wont play for barcalona any time soon, but maybe he does a better job than people on here think.

Bollocks.

Mauamba is in there to break-up the opositions midfield and he does that to great effect. We have others in the side who can pass the ball once he has done his 'job'.

i think it might be time to post his tackling and passing stats

y'know, the ones that prove his critics talk out of their arse

the lad is probably fcuked, seeing as how he turns up very week, unlike holden and davies

muamba is not shite, that is a ridiculous statement

Muamba is good enough, he came second last season behind Lee for player of the season, he was getting a lot of praise.

I don't think he's been near last seasons performances, but it's not like he's been shite, he doesn't have a good shot, and his passing isn't always accurate, yes a lot of times when he's raced clear and has options left, right and center he chooses the wrong ball, doesn't put enough power on the pass or passes to the opposition, but I don't think it's fair to ignore is strength's and focus always on the negatives.

I do prefer a partnership of M.Davies and Holden, but it's not like we've struggled when Mumaba plays, we usually get a positive rather than a negative result.

plus 1 from me diddles.

It not always about picking the best "footballers"

If we're saying Muamba is shit at attacking, is now the time to say Kev Davies is shit at taking goal kicks?

When he's meant to be blasting 10 goals a season from midfield then fair enough, until then I'm happy watching him do what he does best and that's stopping their midfield dominating ours.

indeed

also, i think plenty forget he's often 1 of 2 midfielders up against 3

lad must be fooked

Though he had a great start to the season and was extremely reliable in winning the ball and playing it simple

He has deteriorated recently and by all accounts had a stinker yesterday. His shooting is a joke but thats not what he is about

We need him at the moment and he needs support because if Holden is out for some time it might just be Muamba that wins us that semi

I take everyone's points, but I still think Muamba is a very limited player. He does an ok job at breaking up play, but not as consistently as somebody who's only 'job' is to do just that.

I couldn't find his passing/tackling stats but I'd be interested in having a look. Maybe they'd prove I'm doing him a disservice?

The thing is for me, he's gone backwards since last year when he had a good second half to the season. I was expecting him to push on this season but it doesn't seem to have happened which is a big part of what I'm disappointed about.

He's one of those players who you can watch for the first 20 minutes and tell whether he's going to be effective or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'd never give him shit a a game, I never do with any if our players as long as they're putting the effort in, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more from him. He's not a rookie anymore.

That said, I hope to be proved wrong and hope that he steps up a notch now it looks like it's going to be him and Davies in midfield for the forseeable.
