SpiritofBurnden Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Perhaps, just perhaps, other clubs don't value Gary as highly as some of us do. Or perhaps it's because he's older and therefore his resale value will be nowhere near ?17M.
Arrested development Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 It is for an unproven 19 yr old United spent a reported 12 million on smalling and he'd only played about 4 times for fulham. Weather they are worth it or not is up to debate, but the big clubs are prepared to spend 12 million + on unproven talent.
HomerJay Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 And in those 4 games I've not seen anything like 12m worth of talent
tarian1979 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Bloody Hell - just heard SSN that the Red filth are paying 15 million for Phil Jones - surely that should value Cahill at 20m + ?? Think Jones is a better prospect personally - future england captain for me
HomerJay Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 i not seen anywhere near enough to judge his ability but seems a bit more of a carragher than a ferdinand imo. and so does smalling, suprisingly. are manure destined to become a team of cloggers at the back?

Hes more in the vidic mould id say - no nonsense defender. He'll be his long term replacement with smalling the one to replace ferdinand. Thats the way i see it. A good friend of mine is a blackburn fan, hes been raving about him for a cpl of years, b4 he even broke into the first team, said they had someone with massive potential coming through the ranks.
Big_Sharps Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Zat Knight did play really well against West Ham at home so I am not sure why people are pretending he didnt, granted we flew into a comfortable lead early on but they did offer something at times and Zat did well to cope with what they did throw at us.
Casino Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 ermm, we conceded one and one of theres nearly broke the bar elmander ran the midfield - a midfield containing world superstar scott parker west ham are shite so are not a stick to measure yourself against coyle fcuked up

DazBob Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Yep, it was 3-0. I think that was down to West Ham being the worst visitors we'd seen for many a year. Unfortunately though, I think it gave Coyle a false impression, ie Knight would be better than Wheater against Stoke, and that Elmander could boss a midfield. Ah well, you live and learn.

Exactly, Coyle is still inexperianced at the top level and is still learning his trade but I am more than happy that he is our manager and I feel like he has been let down by all of the players since and including the Stoke game.
Zico Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Pretty sure we won 3-0 and I wasnt saying that it was right to throw him in at Wembley because it wasnt but to say he was average against West Ham is bollocks. aye, seems everyone was happy with him and the rest of the team that day http://www.wanderersways.com/forum/topic/65438-wanderers-v-west-ham/ "Zat Knight was outstanding, Owen would be a fool to leave him out next week. " "Every player looked and played as if their semi-final place was at stake." "Any one of those players could have been MOM today, they were all great." that said, am willing to accept many comments were made in the euphoria of our impending semi final appearance and how the season was going, as someone said: "Elmander could be one of the best midfielders we've ever had."
Garrp Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I said Knight if we could do it all over again I'd still say Knight
DazBob Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 (edited) "Elmander could be one of the best midfielders we've ever had." WTF. I mean, I know that was posted with apparent sincerity, but, well, I dunno what to say. Frightening! Edited June 10, 2011 by DazBobParr

SalfordOriginal Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Boyata's dad quoted in the papers today saying Dedryck doesnt want to come here but happy to move to Everton (dailymail)
DC08WFC Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Tottenham are todays rumoured club, with either Kaboul or Bassong in a 17m deal.
onlyoneawalker Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 agreed agreed....I've thought this but never said it I think Cahill is over rated - I'd take a proper defender and ?10-?12m all day long
Sweep Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 agreed....I've thought this but never said it I think Cahill is over rated I've said for a long time Cahill is a good pleayer, but nowhere near as good as "we" generally say he is. If we get ?15m~?17M for him, then I think we'll have done reasonably well
DazBob Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 id take either and be chuffed as fuck Bassong, yes, in a heartbeat. Not as sure on Kaboul. Can look like a worldbeater one minute and then simply lose concentration/make a stupid mistake the next. We already have Knight who can do that (without the world beating bit).
Traf Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Tottenham are todays rumoured club, with either Kaboul or Bassong in a 17m deal. Start the car.
tarian1979 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Start the car. Aye i'll take that. Pity they couldnt throw kranjcar in too maybe
