I don't think, these days, any parent would let their child within a mile of Jimmy Saville, let alone wait on a street corner for him.
I may have had 37 pints since dinner, but I ask this because there is an owd bloke (86 I believe) called Burt on a boxing forum I go on who as a young man saw Sugar Ray Robinson at his welterweight prime - with ringside seats as well. He says that despite the thousands of big sports events he's seen since that one still gives him butterflies in his tummy, which puts a smile on my face, I think that is at the very least nice.
So it makes me think, what things in sport have you seen (preferably in person) which will stick with you forever and still bring a lump to your throat when you are 80 odd? Not counting Bolton stuff, that's obvious. But there are moments in sport which suddenly occur and you think 'fuck me, they'll talk about this for years...'
I have my thoughts but I'm youngish, anybody else?
