If Bendtner signed for us he would be best striker we have by a country mile and if he started every match would get 10 goals minimum in PL. Too many people beleive he is shit because hes not a fancy

  • fcuk me, for one one who spends so much of their life on this 'ere website...you really don't know fcuk all about the club that some of us of us hold so dear, do you???

Here's an interesting stat

Niklas Bendtner - 22 goals in 98 games for Arsenal

Johan Elmander - 18 goals in 92 for usAnd that was in an Arsenal side that create possibly 10 more chances a game more than us

Minutes on the pitch to goals might be more illuminating, Bendtner spends a lot of time on the bench or being dragged of so I would imagine he scored his goals in less minutes than Elmander, also take the first 18 games of this season away from Elmander and it would read 12 goals from 78 games or 1 in 6.5 games where as Bendtner is 1 in 4.5 games. I would also think Bendtner would be more suited to our style of play than he is to Arsenals.

Nice work with the stats there

I agree he would suit our game more than Arsenals. The difference in styles is obviously massive when I've seen him play for Arsenal he seems to want to drive on and use his power but Arsenals willingness to pass the ball stops him doing that as much as he'd like to so he has to sort of play as a hold up man then make the runs in to the box

Where as here I think we could get the best out of him and let him use his strength more than he does now

Wonder how many goals he got from the bench of them 22 then, should be interesting. So take the 40 sub appearances off 20 goals in 58 games is still hardly mouth watering is it?

58 games is just over a season and a half

Seven from the bench.

I'm not sure what point you're making here, mind.

No point really just comparing him to what we had last season to see if he'd be an improvement. I'm in two minds if it would be a good deal or not, pro's and cons and what not

Well seeing as two of the four from last season have now gone, I would say it would be an improvement

Found an Arsenal fansite that has an interesting view on Cahill.....

"Yes, he does have a buyout clause for ?17million, but it?s irrelevant as there are no clubs willing to meet that sum.

As long as there are no clubs putting in higher bids than Arsenal, it is more than likely that Cahill will become an Arsenal player by the close of the transfer window."

Think that they are about bang on, I cannot see anyone paying us ?17m for a player who can walk for nothing in 12 months. Nasri is in the same boat and they are talking about ?20m for him. I can see us getting ?8m at 10.45pm on 31st August.

yep

I think the club have misjudged the level of interest when they hung a big for sale sign around his neck and said they wouldn't stand in his way of a move

I believe the only club to make a firm offer are Spurs who are offering players we don't want

and given Coyle has publicly stated he won't stand in Cahill's way etc, I can only imagine Arsenal will bide their time and get him on the "cheap"

Looks like Boateng is finally joining Bayern from City. Wonder if this will re-ignite their interest in him?

Doubtful.

They played Boateng at full back, which is why he wanted to leave in the first place.

Did they not just sign another defender last week as well?

BBC reporting Arsenal have bid ?10m.

For Jagielka.

... and SSN are saying Everton have turned it down.

Just noticed the rejection on BBC. Hmm, interesting.

They'll sell.

They just want more money.

Aye, but what of our own commanding centreback?

he will go for 4million day an hour before window shuts :D

Aye, but what of our own commanding centreback?

We've made it clear we can't wait to get shut.

I suspect clubs will hang on until January and see just how desperate we are.

We need to offer him a new contract now and negotiate a new release clause, because he's going for the best part of fuck all the way it's heading.

Hmmm.

I wonder if the Jagielka bid was a ruse by Wenger to get Gartside into panic mode, leading him to ring Wenger and say, "Okay, okay. ?12m and Gaz is yours".

IMO Arsenal are the only likely destination for Cahill. If they buy someone else (ie Jagielka) then we're fooked. We'll end up getting rid in January for ?4m

Everton are asking ?20 million. Making Cahill a bargain.

Cahill to Everton then YHIHF

I doubt it's a ruse, as I think that Jagielka is every bit as good as Cahill, perhaps ?10M is all that Wenger is prepared to offer for a CB, now he has had that amount for Jagielka rejected he might come and offer the same amount for Cahill........I wonder if we would accept.

We're in the sad situation where we have a good player (although maybe not as good as some on here think) who we really need to sell or risk losing for very little.........but with nobody actually wanting him.

As it get's towards the end of August, I wonder if we would be willing to sell for c?10M, or if we would just say sod it, he can leave for either ?3M in January or nothing at the end of the season

There is no way at all that Cahill will be allowed to walk away for nowt. If we're getting towards the end of August I think it's fairly safe to say we'd gladly accept a ?10m offer.

If it is the sale of Cahill that is dictating what we can (or cannot) spend in this transfer window then this must be causing Coyle major headaches.

Hmmm.

Cahill will be a Chelsea player before this window shuts

Tend to agree, cash deal, less than we would like, but with Sturridge on a season long loan (less the games he's banned for) thrown in as a sweetener.

Hmmm.

Wenger is making the same mistake again, he will splash out on forwards and midfield player, when the true issue that they have is they can?t defend but wants good defenders on the cheap, even if they did come in late I would tell him to fuck off and come back in Jan if he?s still in a job, because if they carry on the same as they did last year he will be out of a job
