You have to take him. Like it or not he is probably the best we have.

  • if we go out in the groups, that will be 3 games   if we can't get through 3 games with 19 outfield players, theres something amiss   and it wouldn't be like taking a half fit player   it wouldn

If England squad includes Rooney and we end up not qualifying then it was Capello's resignation letter.

If we don't take him and then find we needed him following qualification then it was Capello's resignation letter.

Capello's really in a no-win situation.

He's already stepping down after the Euro's, so it doesn't really matter each way.

Thinking about it - bar Euro 2004, he's been dogshite in major tournaments, a hindrance if anything.

Hopefully, this will galvanise the rest of the team and the other England players will finally step up.

Look at the way Newcastle have succeeded so far this season despite selling their best players.

Unless he takes him and we do qualify

or we do not take him and we do well (which means win it when reported by the Sun)

Capello is paid enough to make a desicion, I aint paid as much as him and I would take him. If we had players slightly more inspiring on the world stage than darren bent and bobby zamorra then i might feel differently, but needing to win a game i know who i would want on the pitch.

I'd rather give Sturridge a big chance than take Rooney.

Rooney's proved little in his major tournament finals to date, even if he is a bit of a mascot to the other players. As others have pointed out, he might just as easily pick up another red card as soon as he plays than put in a big match-winning display.

It's a big risk either way.

if were playing with one up front, darren bent all day long.

fuck rooney off.

and stick sturridge on the right ahead of walcott.

Walcott will have done his chances no harm with 2 assists in our last 2 away games.

Sturridge and Bent, or Gerrard behind either one of them. Not bothered if Gerrard plays or not, but I think he'll be chosen for a start.

Rooney will go and will play once/if we get past the group. Capello will want to go out on a high, he won't leave our best player at home just because he misses 3 games, we will harder games in the knockout's matches and we'll need our best players when/if we play teams like Spain, Germany and Holland.

sorry, i dont really pay that much attention to england

i thought capello was playing 433 these days?

I really don't enjoy watching Rooney play for England

People wank over him, mention him in the same breath as a Messi or a Villa, its laughable. Compared to the worlds top players he simply doesn't possess the football intelliegence. He doesn't have the discipline to play in the lone striking role, internationally at least.

The number of times he pops up deep in midfield, because he hasn't touched the ball for a few minutes is so frustrating. Its fucking pathetic, charging around like a child in a under 16 game. Yet for the Slags he is often unplayable. As such i lay a large chunk of responsbility at Fabio and the previously England managers. Old Whiskey Nose doesn't stand for it, yet manager after manager at England level allow him to swan around in a white shirt.

I really hope someone comes in and has a good 3 games at the Euros and Wayne sits it out on the bench for the next round at the very least.

There is no decision to be made on this for over six months.

Plenty can happen during the season - serious injuries, for example, or the blossomimg of new talent on the international stage (possibly Sturridge).

The group draw is in early December. My understanding is that Pot 1 in the draw will include both hosts plus Spain and Netherlands. So there will be 2 relatively 'easy' groups and 2 'hard' groups. The draw will have a profound effect on how much chance there is of England performing well enough to progress to the QFs.

I believe Capello has said he will not pick Rooney for the friendlies in between. It might be sensible for the next couple of games, but beyond that it creates difficulties. If WR hasn't played with Sturridge or whoever before the Euro tournament then to start with him for the first time in the QF is not sound.

It's an oft repeated sentiment though

And you're bright enough to know what that usually means

And aye I wasn't good enough at footy, but tell u what, me and 4 of my mates versus you and four of yours seeing as you're giving it out......

He hasn't got four mates

Until somebody has the balls to stand up to these prima donnas football will continue to go down the shitter.

I'd make Rooney an example by not taking him but before that I'd have sent off Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Gerrard and every other overpaid shithouse for arguing with and showing disrespect to the refs.

I'd then follow that by sending off Walcott and the other cheating bastards who fall over when you look at them.

And then I'd.....................

Don't get me started.

if i get gumbo to play for me, you won't be able to raise a team :air_kiss:

As much as I hate him and his club I think he has ben been immense this season, people are slagging him cos he drops to deep!! FFS how many times did he do it against us (behind their midfield) then end up in our box seconds later, he is perhaps one of the best passesrs in the prem and on his day he is a class act.......still he is a cunt

if i get gumbo to play for me, you won't be able to raise a team :air_kiss:

you can have him if you're going to cry about it

And a 5 goal head start

Stay off the cider grumpy

He's over rated anyway. He's been shite for England for 8 years, and he aint all that for United, another protected Bloated "superstar"

Fuck me there's anti-united bias and then there's just plain stupidity.

Rooney is a fantastic player and the best english player at the moment.

he's got a temperament issue he should have sorted by now., but ability wise he's the best England have got.
