30Th Novemeber Strikes

Featured Replies

I work for the NHS, a non clinical role, just an administration post. I can tell you now there are far far to many managers! Honestly, if you saw our organisational structure diagram thingy ma jig. Even just for the South West area of the East Midilands!!!! Its laughable.

And there lies the problem. Many public sector organisations are top-heavy; personnel wise. Strange that the very people who are making the decisions to lay off hundreds of people are laying off from the bottom upwards. They are hardly likely to admit that making a senior manager on, say, ?125k salary makes more sense than laying off 4 lower paid (say ?25k/annum) yet the extra saving would pay the four wages for an extra year plus ?25k.

The top managers are also the ones gripping onto their final salary pensions as if their lives depended upon them. I'd be quite happy for my employer to change to an average salary pension sheme. My bosses would be pretty pissed off though.

As it happens, the Fire Brigade Union have not joined in today's day of action. They say that their current negotiations would be hampered by staging a walkout.

  • Good.   Why the fuck should I as a taxpayer pay people more than they're worth when there are over 2m unemployed, many of whom would love those jobs.   The unskilled are demonstrably overpaid in t

  • anyone who strikes want sacking the fuckin workshy cunts. hope you're all happy especially the teachers forcing folk who want to work to have the day off to look after the kids whilst you catch up xma

  • The only offensive thing he said in that appearance was that he believes he works for a living.

In all of this, it is quite stunning that people are unable to distinguish between the fat copper or council chief who works 30 years, retires at 53 and takes home a ?30,000 a year pension till he dies, and the old woman who works 40 years as a cleaner or summat in the public sector on about 14k and then has a pension worth beans for the remainder of her days. They're not the fucking same and only one of them is worth the abuse the entire public sector gets chucked at it.

Likewise it's also worth a reminder that it was the Fire Brigade Union who went on strike a few years ago when the government refusede to acquiesce to their FORTY PERCENT pay rise demand.

They (maybe foolishly) were led to that by the Government. The FBU hierarchy believed John Prescott when he said that a Firefighter ought to be on a salary of ?30k.

When they took the bait and asked for ?30k, Prescott, knowing it would be the case, put the 40% spin on it.

I think, from what I recall about it, the public didn't bat an eyelid when we asked for ?30k because they thought we were already there or there abouts anyway. Prescott fucked us over the way he'd previously fucked the Maritime Union over.

I'm still expecting the then Fire Brigade Union leader, Andy Gilchrist, to appear as a Labour candidate in a safe Labour seat in the not-too-distant future as thanks for all he did on behalf of the Government in the lead up to the last strike.

*Wakes up, has a quick read, all is as expected. Fucks off back to bed.

The point is the economic crisis was brought about by the banking industry but it is not the banking industry paying the price for it.

And Gordon brown spunking billions up the wall that we didn't have in the first place.

All the 'strikers' here had gone home by 10.30am. Cunts.

They've got to recoup the losses from Brown's selling of the gold reserve somehow!

Just seem some hippy types on the news blaming Tory cuts for the worlds woes.

They must have been asleep when that labour cabinet minister wrote in his diary upon losing the election "there is no money left"

Deluded. The fucking lot of them. a 50 year pension timebomb created in less than 2years by a few Tories. Thats some achievement, it would be funny if folk didn't actually believe it.

You know Micky, if just ONE of the commies said "you know what, I reckon 10 years of an overspending labour government might have had some part to play in all this" then I might mellow a bit towards them.

But no. Let's blame every other fucker.

A nurse on Jezzer Vine on 40k trying to tell a woman who worked as a senior admin on 14k and had a husband on the dole they're all in it together & she was fighting for her too.

Course you are, love.

Isn't the nhs one of the worlds biggest employers? Admittedly its a problem.. unfortunately I like a lot of public and private sector workers feel like I'm getting screwed over for other peoples mistakes.. it depends on your viewpoint.. like Maggie Tate says there's alot of public sector workers taking the piss.. I don't think I'm one of em but if you asked anyone else I'm sure they'd say they weren't either..

if it helps i think you are cunt no matter what :D

There in lies the problem

The blues blame it on the over spending of the labour government.

The reds blame it on the bankers.

The reality lies somewhere in the middle.

Both sides feed vast quantities of bullshit and propaganda to their supporters and we end up in the shit fight we are today.

Well it seems most of the strikers are on Facebook trying to justify it.

Some fucking protest.

Load of them just went past my work in Manchester - spotty bastards the lot of them.

To wholly blame the economic crisis on the Global banking industry is naive at best.

No its not.

Trafford centre is trending on twitter because the car park hasn't got one space left haha all these wankers are shopping!! ::lol::

I'd shut the fucking trafford centre until the motorway junction can handle the traffic

The number of times it's responsible for jams on the motorway

Most sane folk treat everything the Government says as dubious at best. Strange that today, because they don't like the Public Sector fighting back, people start to believe them.

London Evening Standard

No its not.

Read up as to why Greece is in the shit & get back to me.

Just walked through Leeds centre it is heaving, now there a lot of people who have had to take the day of cos schools are shut.

But some kid maybe 20 walk out of marks & spencer with bags of shopping whilst wearing a banner saying 'i am on strike because...'

Not going to generate much public support from the parents pulling screaming kids round the place.

Read up as to why Greece is in the shit & get back to me.

Depends what you read.

Euro / Borowings /debt default /and being lazy fat greek bastards who retire at 50.

The bank of greed is responsible for 3/4 of the reasons theyre in shit creek without a paddle.

I said wholly in my previous post, as people just keep blaming the bankers. The lazy Greek bastards have helped, in part, to contribute to their own downfall.
