My dad is close friends with garys parents.

 

He didn't know Gary well but did on occasion play golf with him and said he was a nice, unassuming guy.

 

I couldn't believe the news.

 

RIP.

I cannot believe it, one of a handful of truly quality players who graced the White shirt. I shed a tear earlier and I dont mind admitting it.

What has happened? and what has gone through the poor guys head to make him do such a thing? He seemed fine yesterday.

Such a shock as he was only on Football Focus on Saturday lunch.

 

 

A close friend of mine took his life the same way as Gary did.

 

And just like Gary, he left two children behind.

 

My thoughts are definately with them.

Rip Gary. Totally shocked like everybody. There was a guy who looked to have it all from the outside. Really feel for his family.

These days you have spoilt brat overpaid petulant Premiership footballers - and then you have a model professional like Gary Speed, i'm sure he would have played for free - a legendary player..... RIP Gary

Still in shock, thoughts go out to his family. Was a wonderful player for us, might have played for us at the end of his career but made a massive contribution and I always thought it proved a great signing. For this to happen, at that age and with so much apparently going right for him football wise is just unbelievable.

Completely shocked, very sad news.
