It still feels very surreal. I am taking in the news and the reaction bit by bit cos I cant stomach more than 5 mins at a time. I just dont get it.

You're sorely missed Gary. Go with God.

R.I.P

i had a season ticket for every season he played for us. Some of the best years we will see at the Reebok for a long time! I will never forget when he went to take a corner for us against the toon. When he ran over to the corner the away support were chanting his name, not many footballers left who were respected by so many. A true gent!

Shocked and stunned. Saw the tribute before the Villa game but had no sound in the bar I was in, so had no idea what had happened. Said 'I don't think he was ill it must have been an accident.' Then I found out. Fuck me, devastated.

RIP

Never thought his playing career would ever end, never mind his life.

The Brits down here are all stunned too. Such a nice bl;oke with seemingly everything to live for.

RIP Gary.

absolutely gobsmacked, still in a state of shock, had the pleasure of doing a coaching course with him and was a top top bloke, my thoughts are with his family. RIP speedo.

Had the pleasure of meeting him at junior whites party with my daughter a few years ago.

She got his autograph and picture with him.

Spoke to him for a few mins and came across as a real genuine guy.

My thoughts and condolences go out to his wife, family and 2 children.

RIP Speedo.

Allardyce summed it up quite well

"if you had a daughter and she brought home Gary Speed, you'd be delighted."

Is there a more respected footballer in the UK?

Blokes like him. Girls love him.

Plus the family, wealth, a job he loved

And yet he still feels the need for this

It's all a bit thought provoking and humbling.

RIP Gary

I'm still really shocked by this. Felt numb since finding out yesterday even though I've never met him.

Used to love him growing up, used always want to be him when playing football as a kid.

Made up when he signed him and he was still a box-to-box player at his age.

Struggling to understand what his state of mind must of been like. For a man that seemed to have everything.

I hope you're at peace now.

might not be in a Bolton top but pretty much sums up what everything is saying about him

balls to obituaries, a picture says 1000 words and all that

Met him once for a "lookalikey" photo at one of the end of season BWFC do's. Don't remember too much of the conversation but seemed up for it when he realised all the lads I was with were calling me "Speedo".

Just back from the Reebok, plenty of people passing, taking a minute to reflect.

Some nice tributes left for him now including my own.

I was politely asked by a chap from the Beeb if I wanted to talk about it, but couldn't as I was completely choked up. Sat in the car afterwards and had a minute to get myself together.

Its not just the fact he was a bolton player, but he was someones dad, husband, son. That brings it home.

Been looking on Google Images for a picture to have as my desktop background. Had to stop as was getting choked.

Crazy really, but I can't remember ever being so stunned and upset about the death of someone I didn't know personally.

It still doesn't seem real.

i was there against villa when he bagged and sent us into europe. As a fan, what more can you ask from a player? He may not have spent the vast portion of his career at bolton, but he is certainly responsible for providing us fans with the best memories.

a true footballing legend.

RIP Speedo.

I Had the ultimate honour of coaching up against him a couple of years ago.

Saw him the other week whilst he was watching his son play for Wrexham Under 14s.

He would stand, chat and enjoy watching the game!

A wonderful wonderful, footballer, coach and Father!

Rest In Piece Gary Speed.

Something just doesn't add up with this.

He had the world at his feet so to speak.

Puts your whole life into persepctive, as to the levels that you would need to sink to,

for it to end like this.

Deepest sympathy to all the family in the run up to Christmas. You can't begin to think of

the grief that they are enduring.

RIP Gary, you did the football world proud.
