Will Chelsea look at his last several performances and re-think their decision to cough up ?5m+ to sign him? I personally would. His lacklustre displays of late were even a talking point on Gillette Soccer Saturday yesterday.

 

I've always thought that how well he performs depends entirely on how crucial he feels it is to impress potential buyers at that particular time. You might argue that if that were the case, he'd step up to the plate now, with January being round the corner, but I don't think he's that desperate to go this January. He can stick around and have his choice of most top clubs in Europe in the summer.

They should get better agents then. Cahill is in the driving seat and can push his wage demands. Who could blame him, Chelsea need him at the moment a lot more than they need Romeo and Juliet!

This is the gamble you take going to a big club, especially a club that can easily replace you if your not as good as they thought. And only bought as a cheap stop gap.

I really appreciate the way that experts in their respective fields take the time and trouble to register to impart such knowledge upon us.

errrm Ricketts as done well on return at LB, maybe wait till Alonso is back, with Cahill leaving, I really hope we get someone else in, having Knight as a guaranteed CB is worrying. Yeah Ricketts and Knight did quite well when Cahill had a blood clot, but I have 0 confidence in Knight and Wheater and Ricketts ain't anything special in the position.

 

Problem is, would any quality (good enough) want to come and join a team figgting for relegation, with little money and prospects?

I would hope the contingency plan contains more than just one replacement in case our first choice doesnt come off. Surely the club wouldnt be stupid enough to think we can replace A with B guaranteed and thats that.

Mikel, Ramires & Luiz will all be on 100k a week and the other two wont purely due to them being signed at a young age. Sturridge wont be far off 100k a week when he gets his next contract imo. That Romeo is playing more and more and he will possibly get a big contract in a few years time if carries on.

 

Chelsea paid Mikel a bomb to get him to sign for them over Munich.

I remember that debacle, didn't United sign him from Brann (or somebody similar) for about ?5M - at the same time Chelsea also believed they had signed him. In the end Chelsea had to stump up about ?15M to United in order to get the player.

 

United did very well out of it, in effect making about ?10M on a player they never really owned

 

Either way, for a player that cost Chelsea well over ?10M, I would expect him to be nudginh around ?100K per week

Ant CB pairing (like CF position) takes a few games for players to adjust to each other. Ricketts and Knight were awesome last season when Cahill was out. Whichever he starts with he MUST stick with for at least three games to see them "settle in".

 

Wouldn't be suprised if the two that start tomorrow are the new first choice (unless we sign neddy manure or Bob Reamer of the US of A)

We won't be buying Onuoha as we can't afford his wage demands and The Ream deal is close to completion. Just waiting on the Cahill deal to go through for the funds.
