I mean, what players ( who are good enough) would want to join Bolton atm? maybe some lower league players, who don't mind going down in a few months again? is the 7 million really worth seeing Knight play all the time? *shivers In hindsight, it would have been best of we actually sold Cahill last summer (if we had a buyer, that is) We've been appalling with him in the side, if anything, we'll probably lose a game 3-0 instead of 2-0 now (for example) do people think a world class defender like a Maldini, Nesta etc would enjoy playing with these players and in a team struggling and a total embarrassment, I bet Cahill thought he played his last game for us last season, we've kept him for half a season more and nothings changed my mind that Cahill is a class defender, sure he makes errors, but he'll be a much better player, when playing with other better players. Goal difference won't save us this season, it will be points, we don't get them with Cahill in the side, with Wheater and Knight, Ricketts and Knight, whatever?!? it won't change, like I said earlier on in't post, we might see more goals being conceded, maybe we won't, but having Cahill or not, won't change us, he stays and he goes for free, he goes, we get some money and still lose matches, so on that basis, thanks a lot Cahill for your time here, hope to cheer you on again when it comes to international football.
December 31, 201114 yr Insider trading does happen within the markets. Very hard to enforce, prove, though the markets are meant to be monitored / regulated. It has happened before and will happen again. When vast amounts of money are involved peoples morals and judgements change in an instance. Who doesn't want to make a guaranteed few quid for the cost of nothing? Not beyond the realms of possibility that this did happen. The privileged few people at the top just at the right time selling and creaming off the flotation whilst others suffered, smacks of the whole scenario being too perfect. Again as mentioned before the whole taste left a bitter taste for genuine BWFC fans. selling your shares when a company floats is not insider trading HTH.

Give me a solid back four who work together as a unit, rather than a mixed bag with one defender far more capable than the others (which we have at the moment). Wouldn't be at all surprised to see our back 4 being more solid with Cahill out of it. I'm not saying he's not a good player, he most certainly is, but the lack of a buyer in the summer is a large part of the reason we find ourselves in this mess now.
January 4, 201214 yr Read some story this morning (on a Chelsea blog) that his agent is chasing ?100k and he's been offered ?50k. Hence the 'miles apart' thing, To be fair, he'll probably get the big payday if he stays with us until the end of the season, then leaves. The saving of ?7 million will make up the difference between the two wage figures over two to three years. If I was Cahill, I wouldn't go - he's doing us a favour if he does though, financially at least.* *Unless he's responsible for us staying up, that saves us more money obviously.

If he wants to play in ther European Championships at the end of this season, I think he has to leave and move to one of the bigger clubs. Whilst we are shipping goals for fun, he'll be tarred with our "crap defence" brush no matter how well he plays. He has a good chance of going to the Euros as it stands, if he moves to Chelsea of Spurs he will be guaranteed a slot in the squad and more than likely a starting place

Either ?6M24 per year or ?3M64 per year If I was Cahill I would be holding out for the ?100K+ per week, as he knows he can get it by staying put until the end of the season - it depends what price he puts on being almost guaranteed a place in the Euro 2012 squad. As a modern day footballer, I would expect cash is king though....

January 4, 201214 yr He is not worth ?100k a week. Thats a joke ! If signed on a free he is. If signed for ?7M then he isn't - which is probably how Chelsea are looking at it. You never know, he might look a stump if/when he starts playing Champions League matches - I think he'll be OK, but until he starts being expected to perform week in week out for one of the top teams in Europe (?!?) then we won't know how good he really is

Although i,m not privvy to what prem league footballers earn, I believe it is reported that chelseas first teamers all earn in excess of 100k per week. If Cahill is being signed to play regulary - why shouldnt he get the 100k+ his agent is reportedly asking?

If we let a payer with a ?17m buyout clause leave for nothing it's nigh on criminal how are we getting bummed? we've agreed a fee of ?7M which is what we want and a good deal for us we already got him to sign one extension on his 4 years here and would've sold him in the summer had the right offer come in, which it didn't - the only alternative would've been to accept a lower offer then, and had we done so, then we'd have been bummed we're certainly not looking to let him leave on a free if you mean he goes on transfer deadline day and we don't get chance to reinvest (presuming that's the plan), then aye, we may well have been bummed, but we didn't bend over
