I thought that must be bollocks, so I did a check. As you know, all the wages of the MLS players are published and can be seen here: http://www.mlsplayer...alary_info.html It seems that Mr Ream only has a base salary of $55K (which is only ?35K) - fuck me, most of us on here earn more than that. Obviously there will be other bonuses in there, but I guess he'll be looking forward to a bumper pay rise. Edit: just looked again and apparently he's guaranteed a minimum $62k6 (c$44K) Beckham has a base salary of $5,500,000.08 Edited January 13, 2012 by CWP Quote

SpiritofBurnden Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Yes he is, hence all the other Premier League clubs as well as some of the major European clubs falling over themselves to get him signed up as quickly as possible Arsenal had a bid for him rejected last season... Quote
derek smalls Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 shame on him for being selfish. he should just sign whatever they put in front of him and be grateful he earns so much for being a bit better at football than an average person. theres nurses earning ?6 an hour wiping arses, who does he think he is. its a disgrace. Im not saying hes not a greedy cunt, but whats that got to do with anything? Is your job more important than that of a nurse? I know mine isnt anywhere near, not even in the same universe. theres fuck chance of me offering to take less money as there are people who deserve more than me though. Quote

Where the fuck did you get that nugget from Also just because nurses wipe arses for ?6 doesnt mean Cahill should accept less than he deserves. Quote

Matt Lofthouse Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Gartys certainly chipping away at the wage bill. SKD, Robbo, Steinsson, Petrov, Knight, Davis next? Quote

SpiritofBurnden Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Doesn't sound like some of the Chelsea fans are that chuffed about it either: http://www.theshedend.com/topic/18623-gary-cahill/page__st__480 If i was in charge then i would tell him you have till Sunday to sign the contract or else we pull out and go else where. Why the hell is our great club pandering to Cahill, he isnt world class, he is an ok footballer, plenty of those about! Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Coyle on SSN last night suggested the situation would not be left to continue for much longer. Can see BWFC or Chelsea stopping it, if not completed by early next week. Quote
Globetrotter Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I've not been able to follow much of what has gone on but from what I have seen they are hardly rolling out the red carpet for him are they? That Villas-Boas seems to think that the lad should be crawling over broken glass to get there. I don't recall any manager ever pointing out that there are weaknesses to the game of a potential signing (and adding that he plays for a shit team). He then went on to sneer that they are miles apart on the negotiation (again odd). Also adding that they are prepared to move on to other options (odd, so early on in the talks). He gives the impression that they are almost reluctant to sign him, no wonder GC is in no rush ... He is currently nailed on for the England squad and can only lose that if he becomes a bit part at Chelsea .. Cue Twitcher winding down the passenger side window and telling that gap toothed fellow from Sky Sports what a 'Triffic' player he is .... Quote
passmosster Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 That Villas-Boas seems to think that the lad should be crawling over broken glass to get there. Chelsea are prepared to pay ?22m for Hazard who I must admit I hadn;t heard of until recently, but are playing the poor boys over meeting Cahill's terms. I wouldn;t sign if I were him. I'd wait for someone who might value me more in the summer. Wouldn't help us much mind. Quote

Walkden26 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Is he in the squad for tomorrow? It just said on North West tonight or whatever it is he isn't as the deal is to be concluded tonight. Quote
HoldensHairdo Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Breaking on SSN that he on way to London Quote
jules_darby Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Wouldn't surprise me it's done tonight As we arent party to the negotiations I don't know how anyone can have a pop at Cahill....from a CHelsea or Bolton perspective; as far as I can tell he's kept a dignified silence and has played well for us recently - see his winner at Everton We don't know who's being awkward Quote
HoldensHairdo Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Even though we all know it was happening I must admit I feel gutted at the thought of him going down south now. Quote
Walkden26 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Would rather him play tomorrow than sign tonight. The thought of Knight and Wheater v Rooney and Hernandez/Welbeck worries me to say the least. Quote
