Brazil goverment actually passed a law to keep Pele in brazil by the time it had passed only the MLS would take him (outside a manager role)

Santos used to play the Euoprean Champions every year, and often destroyed them. Europe was not a million miles ahead due to TV and Sponsorship monies back then. Although, i do agree that Madona was better, and or the reasons you said. Messi will be better than him, he has 3 world cups left in him!

Maradona would have bagged as many goals as Messi if he'd played in an era when forwards get as much protection as they do now. When Italy played Argentina in the 1982 World Cup, Maradona was basically assaulted from first whistle to last by Claudio Gentile (nicknamed 'Gaddaffi'), regardless of whether he was actually had the ball or not.
