Fairly certain no one is arsed, but we're still buzzing so I'm telling you all anyway.  We got incredibly lucky, thankfully! Weather was spot on and it properly set the tone for a perfect day, co

Fishery in Dumfries and Galloway.

Tench and carp, and 2 bastard eels.

Tench are ace

My favourite fish, but so many places are loading up with carp and that muscles out many other species.

This place seems to have a good head of tench though, and although the carp are sizeable, they're not huge and there seems to be plenty of food and a positive environment for the tench.

Aye same.

Gone off fishery type places. Remember going one a few years back and they rammed it full of barbel. Leave them to the rivers where they should be.

Not sure if its passed the north but the thunderstorm here has been bonkers. Woke me up at 3 ish and still seeing lighting and hearing thunder.

Looks like November out there. Saturday night we had an amazing light show from a huge storm over Belgium and northern France

Currently in Wakefield and it's 38°c!

Too fucking hot by far for here.

Moved my meetings in London this week. Sod going in at the moment.

Just done 16k steps in this getting attacked by horse flies with every step. This beer is well deserved

Never seen so many baby rabbits darting about.

Are we seriously on about fully air-conditioned schools getting closed?

My lads school definitely does not have Aircon and it's still open. They have been allowed to go in their PE kit instead of uniform which makes sense.

Only heard about some that couldn't cool them down sufficiently. Presumably they didn't have AC- have there been others with it and still closing?

Worked in a newbuild school before this one, even then not every classroom had air con.

Being a computer science teacher I'm fortunate that the pc's need it.

All those pcs and data centres contributing to global warming!

How it has flipped with the Net Zero extremism.

Been listening to whining fuckers interviewed on the news. The same ones who go and lie on Southern European beaches in it for two weeks every year.

I wonder how some of us manage to survive two and half months of extreme temperatures every year? Here come the 'we are not equipped' excuses.

When Aussies used to call us whingeing Poms I used to give it back twice as hard. Seems they were just a few years early.

been up there in a caravan a few times, but never fishing, where did you go?

never caught an eel, hope it stays that way

Talking of "bad" weather, I've just been outside, and it's currently 41.3C outside the factory, but the humidity is off the scale, apparently a typhoon is heading in on Saturday, and this always happens. Fuck knows how people cope with this type of weather. I walked back into my office, and some cunt had turned the air conditioning up to 24C, as my setting of 18C is apparently too cold.....it's my fucking office!!! - she only popped into bring me a coffee, and thought she was being helpful.

She's now made me a lovely little laminated sign to hang on the thermostat, to tell people not to touch it

I've only been here 3 days, I bet they can't wait for me to fuck off on Friday 😀

It is ridiculous, but our roads aren't equipped to handle such heat (apparently) which is why they start melting.....which they don't seem to do in places like Spain (something to dowith polymers in the tarmac??) - anyway, I reckon that a wise old owl like @Dimron will know about this sort of shit

Dumfries and Galloway.

A few places for course fishing now, though some a big locks.

Not always easy to find out how to get permits though; at times it is a dishevelled notice on a gate or layby that explains things.

I went to a fishery, but not a commercial.

I've had eels before, but got around 4 in total over two visits.

Simply impossible to remove the hook from a couple of tiny ones as they had swallowed it right down, and they are almost impossible to hold.

Bigger ones are a bit easier to handle, though still very difficult.

Went worming last year on a couple of lochs in the North, and got a couple of brownies, but it is virtually all fly fishing up there, and no coarse.

My other half is having to become even more well versed on all things road surfacing.

I'll see what she says.

I know railway lines buckle etc. Happened in '76.

They don't in Oz. Suppose they use a different factor for thermal expansion.

Thanks for the compliment, feeling pretty old at the moment so the wise bit has gone down well 😀

The old fashioned way was to top dress with granite dust to reflect the heat as the black bitumen starts to soften (at around 50C). The new stuff rases this failure temp to 80C but it is more expensive and how often do we resurface our roads? Then you can get problems with surface water and flooding as the new stuff is harder.

Bit of a tightrope really

Rounders was a hot un tonight, recon my tan is better than @gonzo now

I’m tempted to say prove it but we know only @gonzo would
