Get it down to the root zone, and rake level. Moss killer and scarification too. Makes huge difference. Quote

Borrowed a bladed scarifier last year and tore loads of roots up with the thatch. Tempted to go back to a firm rake and double pass in this wet weather Quote

They will remove some grass as well, but judicious use and care afterwards will reap the rewards. A springtine rake is the traditional way- not a stiff one! Tiring, and leaves your arms aching, but a decent work out. Quote

Not in Crawley Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Beautiful down here the last couple of days. Today super odd, really warm and then a freezing mist rolled in. Plants doing well though from the bulbs last year and lots of good weeding to be done with the soil being still damp. Bought some new established plants, and weeding again this weekend for putting the veg in at the end of the month. Quote
