Fucking disaster up in Cumbria

It was bloody biblical

Tried heading out for the footy but got marooned after a river burst its banks - had to abandon ship and ditch the car there

Ive left the keys with the cottage owners and got a lift back as the recovery guys are inundated pulling motors out of the drink

We got a lady in to do the catering last night, she got back home at midnight to find her house flooded out

Never seen weather like it

Four and a half bastard hours to get back from Bowness today

Never seen owt like it in my 51 years on this planet

The car fucking stinks of clutch burn and damp. Absolute chaos on the roads. Seen well over 100 abandoned cars so roads blocked/closed everywhere

Felt sorry for folk in Kendal. One road was just a line of houses with hosepipes emptying the water out and soaking carpets and furniture everywhere

The umbrella was invented in Kendal.

Hopefully my car will have been pulled out by then

They've said hopefully today but maybe tomorrow

A few mates are saying insurance dont pay out in these circumstances - ffs!!

That won't go down well with work if it's the case

My Brother-In-Law drove though a ford the other year during the floods, the water was too high and he got stuck and it frazzled his car  -  the insurance did pay out.......his work were less than happy though, especially when he rear-ended somebody in the hire car a few days later  :D

Lesson is - don't crash the hire car

When I worked for Mars they self insured and one dozy bitch wrote off 2 cars in the space of a week when we had That bad snow a few years back

They hated her guts

Ha ha - that's what my gaffer said

They can't get many going through Evian can they, must all be written off

I don't think they even got the bonnet up the way he was talking about it

Probably buy the salvage off the insurer, do it up in his own time and sell it on for profit as a cat c or d.

I bet it will, it won't be getting cubed and shipped to China

It's a 2 year old M sport with 40k on the clock

Got to be some profit in butting it, cleaning it and selling it

It's up to the insurer I suppose, fuck them, I'll pick another off the company car list

I am going from a contractor to a perm employee in the new year and this for me is a nice perk - a decent car that I don't have to maintain or worry about. I like cars and therefore they have cost me countless thousands over the years. This way I pay the BIK but don't have to worry about the missus kerbing an alloy or the kids scratching the back of the seats.

I was considering going onto the allowance as you can make a few quid out of it if you do it right

However, shit like this puts you right off

Ring a number, sign your signature and your away - worth its weight in gold

This is generally why I always select a company car rather than the allowance.
