Cutting trees down is a bad idea. Banning campfires and BBQ’s is a no brainer.

Thing is, have there been more campfires and bbqs this year than last?

Or, have there been a similar amount but the fires they’ve caused were mallee and less severe last year because there wasn’t a brutal heatwave?

Many supermarkets have stopped selling them after last years fires.

Who said that?

You

Arson.

We've established its all arson. Frankly, I'd gas every human who lives in hot climates asap and root the problem out at source.

Bloody hell, so I did.

I wonder where I got that idea.

This arsonist deserves a fucking medal. He’s managed to start 64 fires across a thousand square miles and 2 separate islands in one day.

Precisely.

Fires in North Africa, and people dead. Like a ring of fire around the earth, with others further north too.

At the end of it, more dry weather and winds will continue to strip away soils. A slow process of course, but ultimately damaging nonetheless.

Similarly, heavy rains can also worsen them as there is little to hold it all in place.

Aye Greece being made of up loads of islands with winds coming off the sea

It's not Athens on fire

Also seems to be very hilly there though don't know if that plays a part, as in I don't know if fire goes downhill quicker

He sure has 😂

Poster after poster have popped along to point out to him that wildfires are worse because of climate change. Which is a fact, not an opinion. But he's just cracked on regardless.

Apparently none of us were aware that careless human behaviour can cause wildfires.

This was my point right at the beginning. Also poster after poster has been wrong (mainly yourself) on some points. You’ve struggled to follow for the majority. As per

😂😂 Aye, it was a point well made. Honestly mate, none of us had a clue that human's might have started some of these fires. Thanks for the heads up 👍

I asked you outright why wildfires have been much more severe in recent years. Hoping to find a bit of common ground.

And you said it was because of disposable fkn BBQs 😂

But yes - we're all wrong, all of us on here, all the scientists, etc. etc.

Get in touch with the organisers of COP28, as I'm sure that when they're discussing the rise in extreme wildfires they will be interested in hearing your views on tackling the arsonists and disposable BBQs.

No I told you the fire brigade have highlighted a rise in fires due to BBQs. Obviously you know better than them.

Yes I do, I know better than the fire brigade on matters of fire. I'm your man if you're house is burning. 👍 Let's leave the disposable BBQs alone and give them out free with every Happy Meal.

I'm not sure if I can be any simpler, but I'll try my best.

Why in recent years, across Europe and in the UK, have wildfires been much worse than ever before? By worse I mean - burning more land, more destruction, moving faster, etc. etc. Because we've not really seen a rise in the things that cause fires. Less people now smoke, there's no evidence that more arsonists are knocking about, but aye disposable bbqs were a bit of a hit - but still not enough to suggest more fire causes are around.

So why are these wildfires much worse now than before ?

Apart from a rise in arson attacks which is pretty much a dead giveaway.

You really don’t seem to be getting it what I’m trying to get across. Stopping the fires/sparks/stupidity in the first place will surely be more effective. That and reducing emmisons would be even better but let’s be honest is that going to happen anytime soon? So let’s try and  stop the fires, now I know some people seem to think it doesn’t really matter where/how they start but it obviously does. You can have 1000s of acres of the driest land for years and it’s highly unlikely to burst into flames. You can have 1000s of acres of land that have been dry for a week or 2  yet a small spark would have it alight in no time.
