Jeans and jumper weather that!ย

Give over man! We went to Dominican last year and it was 33/34 most days but humid as fuck and quite unpleasant at times for a meal. Egypt in August was more bearable as it is dryer heat but still too much for me at 40/41.

Iโ€™m wanting mid 30s min if Iโ€™m going away in Aug. I was in Cairo when it was late 40s. That wasnโ€™t very pleasantย

Aye, though for the most part, folk don't permanently stay in it!

Quite. Not sure 34 or 40 in the shade feels a massive amount different, especially if you have a breeze or tree cover. But sat in direct sunlight by a pool and white buildings I think you might notice it burning your bonce.

Really? They are the shade temps and usually pretty accurate I find.

Youโ€™re right, they give temperatures measured in the shade. But who the fuck cares about shade temperatures if youโ€™re trying to top up your tan?ย

If you want hot, get to Las Vegas where the only respite from the heat is ducking into the ACโ€™d casinos.ย

One benefit of getting on a bit and having kids in their 20โ€™s/30โ€™s is not having to plan holidays around the fuckers

Early June and mid September is bliss in the Med

Quite fancy a late June holiday to maximise daylight. More time to do stuff.

Wehn Mrs Sweeps sister lived in Dubai, we used to go over a couple of times a year.....we once went in July, fucking hell, that was hot, easily in the mid 40's during the day, at night it would cool down to a more bearable 35C

@Elvislived there for a while, so I'm sure he's seen some silly temperatures

Certainly did. Temperatures start to ramp up end of April through to end of October. ย I had temperatures showing in the early 50's during July and August!!

Those poor Filipino workers on construction sites !

A doctor type on the TV the other day explaining ho the body starts to shut itself down as you get into the 40s, how the hell do folk survive much higher?

Was the doctor not talking about Brits? Iโ€™ve been to Spain in February and all the Brits were in shorts and t-shirts whilst all the Spaniards were in padded coats.

Itโ€™s relative to what youโ€™re used to, I guess.

Thatโ€™s body temperature not air temperatureย

No, he was talking about air temp.

He was explaining how the body adjusts to cool itself, meaning less blood to the brain for example.

In essence, we cannot function particularly well at high temps.ย

Does it depend on where your from though? - Do African people deal with extreme heat better than people from Nothern Europe say?ย  - In the same way, do Inuit folk deal with chilly cold temperatures better than Europeans who live along the Med?

I know humans are pretty much are, irrespective of colour/creed kind of "built" the same, but there must be something that makes people born and bred for many generations in certain locals deal with those environments betterย  - or is it down to clothingย ๐Ÿ˜ƒย - do we need to start sporting loin clothes in the summer and seal furs in the winter?

I'm sure you do get better at coping, some by lifestyle- siestas etc. Darker skins cope with the damaging rays better.

Not just the heat though- water is the problem, as that gets scarcer, folk can't live in the place.
