April 21, 201214 yr I am 50. I can and have enjoyed drinking nearly everything over the years, but mostly lager. However in the last month or so I have preferred drinking bitter. It's so easy to drink! Is the evolution common? What are your preferred or recommended ales? Cheers!

I'd say you're about 30 years behind your average CAMRA enthusiast, and 10 years behind your average bitter drinker. Doubt you'll go back to lager. Having said that, I'll drink owt and my preferred tipple is a Jagerbomb.
April 22, 201214 yr Supped the lot, mild, bitter, brown and bitter,red barrel, newky brown, guiness, lager, scrumpy, white cider, white wine, red wine, and i like a whiskey with warm water if i feel a bit under the weather.

April 22, 201214 yr Black Sheep is a nice drop. Used to religously drink bitter but tend to get on the fizzy stuff more these days. Still a nice jar of bitter always hits the spot.
April 22, 201214 yr Real ale. Holts bitter is the one,But anything from Phoenix Brewery in Heywood, or Moorhouses in Burnley. I f you like something pale, the key words are pale (obviously), blonde and golden. My personal favourite is Phoenix Arizona. To quote Phoenix "Dry as a desert, refreshing as an oasis"..
April 22, 201214 yr Love it. They actually sell that in the bars at Turf moor. its great tackle...wasted on them dimwits! its on offer in our local shop for ?1 a bottle at the moment,other than that its 4 for ?5.... beats your magners/gaymers anyday of the week....

April 23, 201214 yr Love a cask ale, but too many of them seems to set my sinus' off. End up with a banging head. Theres a micro brewery in Horwich called Blackedge, not seen there stuff yet in the pubs. Was in the Oast House in spinningfields on Saturday, theres a fair old collection of stuff to try in there. You can choose a flight, three different cask beers of your choice in glasses on a wooden tray.

April 23, 201214 yr Started drinking them again after doing the Real Ale Trail a couple of months ago and quite enjoying different tastes after years of lager. Had a couple of Golden Goddesses yesterday but wasn't really in the mood for the real ale conessuer (sic) that engaged in conversation extolling the virtues of different pubs and micro breweries across the north west whilst ordering 1/2's of everything. The only retort I had was 'have you tried the ?9/pint stuff at that pub in Macclesfield half way to the ground?' he started on about walking 3 miles to the middle of nowhere........I glazed over.
