K.Davies shouldn't have started, and I stand by that even though he scored. Yes he won headers but whats the point if they go to nobody? The 1st half is some of the worst football I have ever seen, every fucking time either the keeper or the back 4 had the ball, it was hoofed up to Davies he'd win the flick on to nobody then Derby would end up giving it us back because they were toss.

 

Even if K.Davies has a good game, the rest of the team are shite because all we do is look to launch it to him, the few times we did play a few passes we ripped Derby apart. Also why the fuck do none of our defenders even offer to take the ball short of the keeper? We might have actually kept the ball if they did.

 

Another thing that doesn't fill me with confidence, Tyson up front for them was very quick and it was there only real threat, so WHY take out our quickest defender in Ream, just because he had 1 below average game v Burnley, have we actually studied Derby before we played them?

 

I didn't think anyone played very well, Eagles probably the best for us and I was impressed with Afobe when he came on, Ricketts has started the season very slowly and Mears is utter dogshit!

 

Happy with the win but for me its just papering over the cracks.

Knocking the ball up to davies should be used occasionally , i.e when the defence is under pressure. It seems to be the focal point of our play.

 

The first time we got the ball down in the first half we created our best chance with eagles crossing for sordell to head over.

 

Chungy, mavies, eagles, petrov would get more of the ball if we passed it about more, and we would be more effective.

Sometimes a long punt is the best option.

 

I think it's mills 1st thought. Like it was the derby defenders. It's what lower league defenders of a certain quality do.

 

Shame some fans think every punt is shite. Sometimes its the safest option.

I'd probably agree with that.

 

Agree with that about a partnership too. Some people are saying Sordell had a bad game for not reading Davies flick ons. I'd say niether had a good game due to a mixture of Sordell not reading Davies flick ons and some of the flick ons being shit. Could be something that will work in the future but i'd still like to see SKD used as a sub. I think he would be more effective in that role.

 

Eddies already said it but it was getting abit tedious watching all the long balls amounting to nothing.

Not every fucking time we've got the ball. 1st half it wasn't working, it was clear for everybody to see. All it needed was somebody coming short to pick up the ball off the keeper/defence, when we did that once or twice we took Derby to pieces, yet 95% of the time the ball was launched to Davies again and the outcome was the same with Derby getting the ball back

Awful first half, much improved second. At times towards the end of the game, a few touches of real quality, which were encouraging, but far too sporadic for my liking.

 

Knight played well, as did Eagles, Chungy still finding his feet but improving. KD did ok despite three up against him at times. MD largely anonymous which is a worrying trend at this level. Mears poor, Mills incredibly slow (why was I labouring under the misapprehension that he was pacey)?

 

As a team, we still look well off the pace, but there were one or two green shoots and hopefully a confidence boost, which is the main thing we need at the moment.

 

What was up with Andrews 2nd half? Broken nose?

Should we have had a penalty early doors? Am in North stand so didn't see it.

Afobe should have had 2 btw but looked dangerous running in behind.

2 other things I noticed.

 

1) - We're leaving Sordell up on corners.

2) - We've still got the fucking drummers!

First half had one bright spell but in the main poor with Davies m and Andrews not seeing that much of the ball

 

Got going in the 2nd half as derby faded, for all their endeavour they had no quality and ours began to show

Highlight was afobe accidentally flooring Andrews with an elbow celebrating kd's goal

When we actually passed the ball short we looked okay so why oh why do we continually bypass the midfield. It does my nut in.

 

Delighted with the 3 points but we have to learn to be more patient in possession and resist the urge to lump it up to KD.

That's a lot of long balls for a team that, I thought, were trying to play football. Hopefully, the 3 points will give the team some confidence to settle into some sort of system/pattern that wasn't evident tonight.

Why were folk booing when Sordell was subbed?

 

I thought it was because they thought it was the wrong decision,

 

Someone near me thought they were booing Sordell because he had been shit.

 

Either way, it was a very disappointing crowd reaction.

 

As was the booing at half time when it was 0-0.

 

And the extent of the booing at Burnley at full time.

I thought we did ok in the second half, but the first half was crap. Knight had a good game again and was man o' the match I thought. It's a bit early for booing, at half time in the first home game though. There were a lot of young new 'uns round me who thought it was ok to boo. Hopefully they only had day tickets and weren't STs.

These knobs were booing Pratleys name when the team was announced.

K. Davies won nearly everything in the air, Sordell and the midfield mis-read most of them, so whose fault is that ? How many pinpoint flick-ons do you see ?

 

& imo Derby played a lot more hoof ball than us.

It's good to see those well-researched and laid out statistics to back your opinion. Cretin.

First-half was shockingly bad ........... and I'm comparing that with Ramsbottom United recently. If Coyle's main (or only) plan for the season is launching it long & high in SKD's direction, I despair.

 

Second-half we began to try more passing, even a couple of short free-kicks and a short corner. Hell, Bogdan even threw a couple of balls to full-backs instead of kicking long. The goals were smartly taken and we could have had more late on. I don't see how anyone can say Derby never looked like scoring though - I'll assume that's tongue in cheek. But Derby were poor.

 

I'm not surprised the centre-backs look disorganised at times - they're forever covering for two absolute crap full-backs. Mills is struggling a bit for pace though. I thought Mark Davies had a better game; a couple of last ditch tackles in our area were brilliant. Andrews seemed anonymous. Sordell just couldn't get to grips with our SKD plan. We have great attacking potential - if we get the ball down and play football. But the defending still has to be sorted.
