Traf Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Freedman's a management veteran with a lengthy 90- game career. Quote

no balls Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 If there's only one reason I hope this doesn't happen for is that I keep thinking he's called Dean and that song is whirling round my head far too often! We can thank our lucky stars if it doesn't come off! Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) My take is Freedman is palace through and through and. He might be using Boltons approach to shock palace into giving him a rise and a longer contract if they dont play ball I expect him to turn up at the Reebok pretty soon. I hope he stays at Palace at it has the same ring as the Coyle appointment a little bit of success with no real substance or history of being a quality manager if we had beat Palace at home we would be level on points with them hardly brilliant is that, this ones an accident waiting too happen. jules_darby Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 We only have one chance to get this right though Cassie The wrong man doesn't get them up....and it would really take the wrong man to manage them not to....and the group breaks up, probably cheaply. Leaving us actually needing very good management to get us up post this season This appointment is MASSIVE for us Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 jules is reet on the massive bit Quote
Garrp Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) I think he comes. Hes a loyal guy but I still think he comes The job hes done at Palace isn't much short of incredible the palace board still havnt given him a new contract i reckon they live to regret that. Your a clever lad garp so I am going to ask you what convinces you that his record his good enough for a massive job like this one? I ask because I have looked at his record and it does not look to exciting to me last season he got them to 17th place and this season he started terribly he has managed a good run the last 6 games but that could well be a fluke, Palace have always had a good academy and produce a lot of good young lads so that might be the reason there doing O.K. He also has probably the most exciting young kid in the division in Zaha at his disposal, I can't say that Palace impressed me the other week, they worked hard but offered only Zaha as a threat on the break. The more I type the more worried I am getting, I'm relying on you to sell Freedman to me. Quote

BOWTUN BAKED Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 It's a big fat NO for me, for the same reason that many have already said. We're in no real hurry to make a rash choice yet, nor in any hurry to get anyone in to make any sweeping changes that they'd want, stick with the boot room for now for me, they can't do worse than Coyle did... make the right choice, when the right choice appears. I'm sure the normal person will be along shortly to point out I'm wrong Quote

No idea if he will be good enough for us or not either. The job he has done at Palace though is incredible. Saying they came 17th last season doesn't do him justice. They were one of the favs to go down and were never in trouble. In the summer he lost 3 of his beat players Darren Ambrose, Sean Scannel and captain Nathan Clyne. He hardly got any of the money to replace them and they looked even more certain to go down this season, we all know where they are now. Its only short of two years but I can only judge him on the time he has served. He has overachieved massively in that time. Zaha and Williams aside, if you sold the rest of his squad, you would have less than we turned down for Mark Davies in the summer! Quote
Garrp Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The real people who know about football, im talking the biggest football gamblers in the world (Brighton & Brentford chairman) had them rated the 3rd worst team in the championship behind Barnsley and Peterborough at the start of the season. It doesnt tell the full picture. i agree,it doesn't tell the full picture. keeping them up on a very limited budget was a fine achievement in itself. Palace haven't for years had a pot to piss in,they're a true selling club, living day by day. he's palace through and through, but in this world money talks and he needs security. if we're offering big bucks and palace aren't offering a decent contract then he'll be up the M6 as we speak Quote
freds dad Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 He may have done a good job at Palace but has he managed Premiership players which most of our squad are. With that comes the BPL attitude and the toys out of the pram mentality if things don't go right for them. On another note Mick McCarthy is on MOTD 2 now. Will he be asked about being linked with any manager jobs? Quote
