Youri McAnespie Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Freedman will be a cunt, I just know it. Dougie Donnelly is a cunt. Dougie is a cunt . Dougie Freedman will be a cunt. Dougie Sparrow was alreet, pretty incompetent at times. However, he's certainly changed since he had Sparrows... Quote
no balls Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I presume we'll have to pronounce it Doooooooooooooooooooooogie. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 All four you mentioned at least have had some amount of success and have vastly more experience than Freeman and I would only prefer him in front of Mcleish. McCarthy of them probably has the record of at least getting a couple of sides up, not immediately though if I remember correctly. Am probably wrong but not sure Souness has a track record of getting anyone up and Holloway has done well at Blackpool only really and previous clubs he has left weren't left with much of a legacy. Anyway, my point is that I am personally glad that Gartside/Eddie Davies seem to be looking away from these candidates, whether Dougie Freedman is the best of the younger generation I don't know. This appointment seems to be another sign of us moving away from the days of clocking up further debt and trying to shift focus to a better youth process and maybe a more sustainable plan. Quote
jules_darby Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 So Is Curtis Freedman's agent then or is that bollocks? I can't find record of it anywhere Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Ive had a look round and couldnt find owt. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 (edited) If Freeman gets us up would anyone have any confidence in him doing a job in the premier? He would get eaten alive in the premier League. Listened to Adrian Durham today who is a first class c**t but does some times talk sense and he said when Palace went to 10 men on Saturday and 2 up Freeman did not have a clue what to do and only scraped a draw due to poor finishing and a couple of crucial saves late on, tactically inept and concede goals it sounds familiar. aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh. mick Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 what happened to giving the people currently in the position the chance to prove themselves?.................never know, the solution could already be there and no compo to payout, thus leaving more money for transfers, will not be impressed if its dougie freedman Quote
snowball Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I have enjoyed this thread, ive followed it for a few days now....... http://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=236621&page=104 Enjoyed reading that thanks. I was thinking I'm glad Gartside isn't going for McCarthy but if that Harry Secombe fella is Freedmans agent then it does start to look a bit dodgy. Hardly giving ourselves a wide choice are we if that's the criteria? So is he or not? Quote

I normally agree with you on most things Mount but I don't get why you are so keen on MM? He did get eaten alive in the Premier, the two lowest points totals ever, until Derby came along IIRC. Never rated him at Wolves either (think Coyle managed to beat him most times). Also someone on Burnley board reckons he wants to bring 8 of his buddies with him when he gets his new job. Don't think that would suit us much. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Freedman does have a long term feel about it as an appointment, which goes against what Gartside sets out as what he wants for this season. Freedman has done well bringing in young players at Palace and maybe we see him as helping that kind of production now the under 18's are flourishing, Apart from that Im shocked its him, said before not against it just a bit bewildered Quote

I'm not that keen on McCarthy however if I was choosing a manager he would tick a few of the boxes his main failing is his failure in the premier league, however he has got 2 teams out of the championship and is honest has some some charisma and personality and lots of experience dealing with Premier league players. I thought it was just a case of putting them 3 in charge until we found a replacement. As for the amount of stick Freedmans getting, I can't believe it. He's not my first choice but to say he's a backward choice etc is a joke, the same people then say that we should keep Phillips who has less experience than Freedman. If he gets the job then he gets my full backing, I just hope he does from the rest of the crowd. Quote

Of course he will get my backing if he chooses to take up the challenge, like every other manager we have ever had, but it's a massive gamble to employ him and if it comes off absolutely inspired choice, I ain't holding my breath though. Bigtoe Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Can't say I am enthralled, but there weren't many names banded around who I thought, yep, he'll do. If he can organise a defence and get some fight in them then I am sure we'll go up. So good luck fella. I hope he gets backed by the supporters and is given a chance to get us motoring again. I personally would have let Phillips, Lee and Darby have a few games to see if they were up to it. But hey, ho that ain't happening now. If this one doesn't go right though, then surely its time to say bye to our chairman. By the way, any news if he is bringing Hardy and Willis in as coaches? Quote
The True Marple White Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Get him in and tell him to bring Mr Zaha with him. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 One of the rumours at Palace is that Zaha is to be sold regardless in Jan, could be bollocks though I did read on epost on that palace forum we were doing this in revenge because they wouldnt sell Zaha to us Quote

Lets not go overboard about saturday's win. We were just as bad defensively as we have been under Coyle, especially first half. Admittedly the spirit in the team was better but it often is after a manager has gone. If we had lost at the weekend would you still be saying give Phillips the job? Quote
