a lot of what you write isn't quite accurate. Clyne was only a kid, and was never our captain. Dougie chose to sell Scannell and Ambrose,

I'd be ok with Dougie if he comes. Yes, he lacks managerial experience but he has Lennie Lawrence as his number 2 down there and could have Sammy Lee up here or bring L.L with him - either way, 2 vastly experienced football people.

I'd certainly welcome him more than big mick or Mcleish - lets give him a go

I think keeping Sammy Lee as coach is almost as important as getting the right man above him. His short stint as manager is best left forgotten, but as coach under Big Sam he ticked all the right boxes.

Again, notice the difference in those of us who can admit when we get it wrong?

The only bit that was wrong was that Clyne was captain and im sure when our resident Palace fan comes on he will confirm he has covered as captain.

The other bit is what I said.

Heres where you claim to put me on ignore as you're above this bickering.

When you look at Palace's results from Christmas to the end of last season, the similarity between him and Coyle becomes all too apparent.

But he can talk well. Haven't we seen that before?

I expect that he will be appointed nevertheless.

me and you are usually singing similar songs, but (i'm guessing) the difference is that this time the new boy won't be allowed to surround himself with family and friends

I reckon you're right. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever we bring in is told that there is already a coaching structure in place that he'll have to work with.

Reports coming in on all the news sites that Palace have refused permission for us to speak to Freedman

Verified.

We're gonna look right pricks now with whoever we approach next (secondchoiceitis). How does big Phil talk his way round this one

Doesn't change a thing. If Freedman wants the job he will leave Palace with their blessing or not.

I don't see why, we might have spoken to him and decided he wasn't for us anyway - it's just all part of the process

absolutely, and I would be surprised if they haven't already had a chat on the matter anyway

Well, I think it's fair to say we are all shitting ourselves. The despair at the (false) news that permission had been granted, followed by the elation at the club statement that it had not, would be comical if I weren't part of it!

The news media here really don't have a clue, and seem to be following each other reporting rumour as fact. Neil Ashton at the Daily Mail (spit) is a Palace fan, and seems to have been correct so far, so if you want to follow someone he's your best bet. At our end, rumours abound. We're all aware we can't match you financially, yet the prevailing opinion still seems to be that Dougie's attachment to the club will keep him here. He met with the owners yesterday at the training ground, but no one knows what was said. He may have led Bolton on to see what they were offering (causing your owners to go public) and now that he knows he may have agreed for the approach to be turned down, so he saves face and gets the new contract he's after. Or he may want to talk and the chairmen may be playing hardball. Who knows? Our owners (one of whom posts on the Palace messageboard) have been pretty quiet about it. This is the only post

Personally I still think he'll stay, but I have absolutely no inside line and that's based on nothing more than my own hunch. I think whatever the outcome, it'll be a bigger deal to me than all of you!

Freedman's definitely after a new job.

Apparently he left the X-factor at the weekend, but if he struggled to get those dancers in the right formation, he'll be fucked with our back four.

At the end of the day it will come down to money. It always does.

Our offer will be too good for DF to turn down and he will walk. History and loyalties will be forgotten and he'll be our manager by Friday.

Money has certainly poisoned our game, but I live in hope that for some it is not the be all and end all. If he stays, we'll know that money can't buy anything and there is still hope that our national sport might redeem itself from the vile and pointless cesspit it has become since the introduction of the Premiershit - a move that, laughably, was foisted upon us with the declaration that it would help the national team. All it's done is raise ticket prices and sent a number of clubs bust, and seen more and more of our clubs move into foreign ownership. Germany, on the other hand, has tickets priced at a level where it's still affordable to take a whole family, grounds with more atmosphere, safe standing, and fan ownership.

I've gone off on a tangent here haven't I?

Palace have left themselves open to approaches for Freeman. Allowing his contract to only have 7 months left on it. Even though they are fourth in the league, they haven't shown much faith in him. I don't think that's the last we will hear of it. I wouldn't rule out him still coming.

Big Mick will be wheeled out next week and Phil G will be saying

"He was always our first choice, we just thought we would let the dust settle on OC's departure and let the back room staff take us through until we could sort out the finer points of the discussions; which have been on-going for some time. I have every confidence MM will take us to where we belong. With respect to OGS, DF and MA, we have not even spoken to any of them"!

I notice after looking at some of the Palace forums, some of the supporters were calling for him to be sacked after they had gone 3 games without a win at the start of the season. You cannot blame the guy for using Gartside's approach to secure a future contract with his existing club if that is what he prefers.

I hope your right and he stays firstly he is well paid by Palace and is a legend down there and should see this through, the similarity to the Coyle appointment is startling it is easy to get a lucky run of good results especially in a league with such a dearth of genuine talent as the championship, a team who outworks a team can easily get the win, his record does not stand upto close scrutiny he is a tracksuit manger(similar to Coyle) scottish(same as Coyle) has little managerial experience at this level (similar to Coyle) who is managing younger players not a bunch of high quality (in comparison terms to palace) experience proffesionals who have basically shown Coyle the door with there refusal to play for him. We have a good coaching team in place who have long established links as players with BWFC, pissing them off and employing an outsider with little managerial experience is madness of the highest order, I aint happy one bit and this move STINKS.

Off on a tangent but recently whilst in Germany, I checked the prices of tickets for the weekend's coming fixtures. 69 Euro was the cheapest, up to 99. I recently saw Benfica play Barcelona in the Champions League for £35. It's a bit of a fallacy about German prices.

Of all people, you should know the rules regarding facts

It's not a myth, it just isn't for an average walk up ticket. Some clubs have tickets for those on low incomes/unemployed and season tickets deals can be incredible. A season ticket at Dortmond is £186

Average ticket price in the Bundesliga is 12-15 euros

Not great for tourists I agree, but for your ordinary fan it's pretty great
