Why Do We Concede So Many Goals?

These are some observations about us this season and reasons for the number of goals conceded IMO.

1) We don't work anywhere near hard enough when we lose the ball, starting with the forwards in the opponents half.

2) We are still looking for the balance in midfield. Spearing has been an improvement but Mark Davies is still an enigma.

3) We dont press the opposition nearly enough but let them come 20 yards or more. We have not yet replaced Muamba, Holden or Reo Coker.

4) Eagles, CYL, Petrov and Ngog and Afobe cannot tackle. If two or more of these are playing it puts extra pressure on the others to win back the ball.

5) The defenders switch off at times giving soft penalties or goals away through poor positioning and concentration.

6) Two of our full backs are poor defensively (Alonso and Mears).

7) One of our full backs has been continually played out of his ideal position (Ricketts).

8) Our Centre halfs aren't ruthless enough with the ugly part of defending epitomised by Colin Hendry.

9) The previous management did not address the midfield formation problem or the defensive frailties.

10) The goalkeeper is still young and is suffering a loss of form.

Been out playing 5 aside

Would someone kindly surmise points made by DF and PG please?

Thanks in advance

Gartside- Despite results the club is still on an upward curve.

Freedman- At this point in time BWFC and his own ambitions are the perfect match.

- Lawrence and Fleming may not follow him to BWFC.

- He won't take any shit, but at the same time, recognises problems of players.

- He will promote and encourage our younger players (named Sordell)

- He referenced his defensive policy at Palace, and indicated this will be the way forward.

all well and good having a defensive policy but to do that we will need players that can defend! Considering the last incumbant bought players for their abillity on the ball firstly it means we have a squad with 1 defensive midfielder, attacking fullbacks etc etc etc

DF has a job on his hands organising a defensive unit out of that lot.

Gartside must only be referring to financial terms i.e reducing the wage bill, academy etc if he thinks we're on an upward curve.

5 years ago we were giving Bayern Munich a run for their money on their own midden and now we're in the lower reaches of the championship getting routinely stuffed by bags of shite. that twat has got more wind and hot air than new york

Happy to see that DF has recognised these two factors fairly quickly.

All factors 1-10 are valid in terms of being identified and addressed by the new management team. Good shout
