BOWTUN BAKED
http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wanderers/wanderersnews/10047944.Dougie_has_Wanderers_working_overtime/ Great to hear!! I, along with many, had been frustrated with the obvious lack of fitness under the last stubborn & arrogant regime. I wasn't overly keen on the appointment of our Dougie, though I agree with some others on here, he's talking a good game. Back to basics, work the buggers correctly, a victory on saturday will keep the unbeaten run rolling & 8 points from a possible 12 (the magical 2 points average/game ) Bowtun Baked.... optimistic & passion bubbling back up 'Who's that coming up the hill boys.....' paulhanley
I'm pretty pleased with Freedman so far too. Just hope his actions match his words.... because that was the trouble with the last regime.
Eavesy
So we're assuming training was fine when we was 8th and ripping teams apart under coyle?
tyldesley_white
So we're assuming training was fine when we was 8th and ripping teams apart under coyle? It would seem that things went pear shaped after Stoke ripped us a new one, I cant really see training changing much after that from what went on before
SnoopJohnnyJohn
So we're assuming training was fine when we was 8th and ripping teams apart under coyle? I think it's widely accepted that Coyle could get a team with high morale playing very nice stuff, but couldn't turn it around when things started going wrong. I don't think there was a question mark over his training when it was working - but the problem is that you can't just have one plan. Coyle had no plan B. jules_darby
So we're assuming training was fine when we was 8th and ripping teams apart under coyle? No But other things were compensating It's not that hard to grasp really
marple whites
Playing 5 a side all the team is no substitute for tactics and fitness. It is clear that we can't do the basics right - defend set pieces, support the full back etc (thats why we are conceding 2 goals a game) We always switched off at the start of the second half under Coyle and how many late goals did we score ? (2 tenths of f all) Also, our lack of away form is alarming - how can we be so poor away ? Tactically nieve - particularly in a couple of away games where we got back to level and a draw would have been ok - we went for the win with a change of formation and lost !! Small steps - and we will get back on track.
Moderators Casino Posted November 16, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2012 (edited) No But other things were compensating It's not that hard to grasp really not least that megson left him good players he then added holden i'm not sure any others, of his permanent signings have been better than the players he inherited Edited November 16, 2012 by Casino

Moderators Zico Posted November 16, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2012 who had the insider knowledge to coyles training regimes? I'd heard a thing or two via KD that said sessions were abit Sunday league, this was when Coyle first came in - it was very much in line with his "players not tactics/formation" outlook - and time was spent playing 5 a side and not bothering with set pieces etc as jules and that said in response to eavsey, he was always going to be able to lift the players spirits after megson had done nowt but shout at them for 2 years or so but it all got hideously exposed at Wembley when Stoke did a job on us, and after that Coyle just kept throwing different players in the mix hoping to return to the previous highs but the quality had gone, so it was no longer just about the players - they needed a game plan, he didn't seem to have one and he kept dropping the players who could do a job, because they couldn't do flick ons and that so to hear Freedman say "It enables me to do a bit more work on tactics" is music to my ears just hope they work
Farrelli
not least that megson left him good players he then added holden i'm not sure any others, of his permanent signings have been better than the players he inherited It is hard to argue but Wheater,Eagles and Reo Coker are probably the best of the rest that Coyle signed. Moderators Casino Posted November 16, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2012 i'd take wheater over knight, but seeing as he signed him and didn't play him til cahill left, he was never seen as a replacement for knight nrc was a good signing (imo) no problem with him, but he fcuked off! eagles has to be judged on his efforts in the top league and i'd say he wasn't a patch on lee or taylor - very good at this level, mind
