January 23, 201313 yr I doubt it. Who'd take him and his wages off our hands? There was hardly a clamour for his signature in the summer. USA, end of his contract. He'll be partnering Dawson here for the forseeable. or at least, until Wheater is properly match fit.
January 23, 201313 yr USA, end of his contract. He'll be partnering Dawson here for the forseeable. or at least, until Wheater is properly match fit. Are you ITK or guessing? Wasn't he supposed to be going to the US last summer?
January 23, 201313 yr West Ham will have him. Nope. Allardyce wouldn't take a centre half who won't put his head in where it hurts.
January 23, 201313 yr Disappointing Alonso going considering we stuck by him, but we can't match 25 k, great news about Dawson exactly what we need.
January 23, 201313 yr Alonso is a funny one. Gone from zero to hero in almost no time at all. I still don't think he is a good enough defender for a team like Bolton but he is a very tidy footballer. What makes me laugh is the people who slagged him off last season are now saying the club should have tied him to a longer contract! If he does move abroad good luck to him and let's face it if a club like Fiorentina come in for anyone chance are they will go. I really hope Dawson replaces Knight, don't know anything about him but Knight has to go. Praying Dawson is better defender than Knight,Mills and Ream. Not too much to ask is it?
January 23, 201313 yr When was it ever gonna be good business giving up 2 mill to let him go for nought, even when he was still only potential, which admittedly he was still 6 weeks ago. What is the likelyhood of this happening with holden in a couple of months also.
January 23, 201313 yr So from a rumour in today's Mirror Alonso has now been sold for 2 million. When have we started believing the papers. Edited January 23, 201313 yr by waffer cup 07
January 23, 201313 yr Alonso is decent but will improve to be a good footballer, not top notch but capable of holding his own in a major top flight. I reckon at the moment, there are better championship left backs its just a question of how much they would cost. It's the fact he's pissing off for little money after the club stuck by him which annoys me. I hope that wanker Bosman is enjoying living a paupers life. That said, we've benefited ourselves from freebies, we'll have to do it again

January 23, 201313 yr Wafer If its in the mirror and Alan Nixon wrote it it will be more than a rumour.
January 23, 201313 yr Alonso is decent but will improve to be a good footballer, not top notch but capable of holding his own in a major top flight. I reckon at the moment, there are better championship left backs its just a question of how much they would cost. Personally baffled how the club is getting shit about this one. Up until a matter of weeks ago, he wasn't our first choice left back, nor was he Coyle's for most of the time. Neither manager seemed to rate him hugely - he only got back in our team because Warnock left. He's also someone who had a court case hovering over him and a player, who, quite honestly, seems to pick up more than the occasional injury. Stringing half a dozen games is impressive for Alonso. Can't see him seeing the season out even if he stays, I don't doubt he's a decent player, but he's only shown it for last month or so. I reckon the club offered him something with all of the above taken into consideration before this run. Now his representative (dad or not) is working to get his son better than the average championship money we've offered. If he gets it, good luck to him. He'll have worked the system like a good 'un. As someone said earlier, we've had the benefit of that system, but now we're a division down, we'll be on the receiving end more and more. Can't blame the lad and there's no reason to show loyalty. This is modern football - it's all about the money. As for Holden, he still might not come back anything like he was. Offering him a big money long contract whilst he was injured is just plain ridiculous. Offering him a decent one now might make sense. Unless he comes back and plays the season out in good form, I can't see teams queuing up for him with his recent record.
January 23, 201313 yr Wafer If its in the mirror and Alan Nixon wrote it it will be more than a rumour. Nixon wrote he was off to Forest two days earlier.
January 23, 201313 yr Nixon wrote he was off to Forest two days earlier. No he didn't He said they made and enquiry and we told them to do one.
January 23, 201313 yr If Warnock had dropped his salary demands he'd not be playing its a funny old game if fiorentina want him after half a dozen championship games then they already knew something we didn't let's not forget we're aiming to get up the divisions and Damien duff a fairly average ageing winger ripped him a new arsehole but that said I'd like to keep him maybe his best form of defence is attack it's the modern way right? January 24, 201313 yr So we can maybe get £200,000 for him now or watch him leave for free in summer (according to BN). Can we get a left back in the next week or so? Hard to cut through the bull when a players contract is coming to an end but i don't blame the club and won't be devastated if he goes. Still got faith in new management
January 24, 201313 yr Author No point hanging on if he's going anyway in the summer. Well done for the last five games, fuck-off to warm the bench in Florence. Sure the dugster, can bring a new left back from Hereford for tuppence, or something like. Or, we have that thingy over the road, the big grass field with loads of "one for the futures" grazing in it. Maybe, just maybe, there's a 19 year old left back from somewhere, who may get the chance to play left back for the big boys, as there's fuck all, bar pride (and winning the FA Cup, and he won't be cup-tied like the guy from Hereford) to play for now this season. January 24, 201313 yr That lad who plays LB for Palace has looked decent when I've seen 'em. Got a cracking surname too. Shirley he'd cost less than £2m?
January 24, 201313 yr No he didn't He said they made and enquiry and we told them to do one. That's not true though, is it?
January 24, 201313 yr That lad who plays LB for Palace has looked decent when I've seen 'em. Got a cracking surname too. Shirley he'd cost less than £2m? Why would anyone leave a stable team like palace to come to Bolton...
January 24, 201313 yr He's also someone who had a court case hovering over him and a player, who, quite honestly, seems to pick up more than the occasional injury. I think Alonso was out most of last season with an ?Achilles injury.
