Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 What a match that was. Still can't be doing with Nadal, as good as he is. Slow, arse picking, ocd riddled spick playing great tennis despite his innards hanging out. Quote

Quote Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from his Wimbledon semi-final against Nick Kyrgios with an abdominal injury. The 36-year-old Spanish second seed received treatment on the injury during his quarter-final against Taylor Fritz on Wednesday but pushed through the pain to win in five sets. "I have tried a lot of times in my career to keep going but it is obvious the injury will get worse," he said. Kyrgios will play Novak Djokovic or Cameron Norrie in Sunday's final. Quote

I thought that, but it's not in their rules apparently. Really don't understand him carrying on. He's experienced enough to know whether the injury would hamper him later, so why risk making it worse just to pull out later. An 8mm muscle tear! Quote

He had the opportunity, once he realised his injury was beyond allowing him to proceed further, to put the other guy through by default rather than giving the big-mouthed Aussie the bye. Perhaps it was the prize money. After all, his nett worth is only $220million. The difference between losing quarter-finalist and losing semi-finalist might make all the difference to him. Farrelli Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Some nonsense being posted on here. How did he know what level of injury he had sustained during his QF? The only thing you can do is try to win and then if you get through try to recover. Nadal is a supreme winning machine and was able to win a match at60-70% fitness. Unbelievable talent and mental strength in bucket loads. Quote

When your whole life has been only playing a sport, you’ll know exactly what that little hamstring niggle results in and for how long. It’s why pro-footballers look at the bench and circle their hands around each other in that internationally recognised sign for ‘get a substitute on’ and why a pub footballer shouts, ‘It’ll be reet, I’ll run it off!” Quote

I’ll call it what it is, nonsense. 😂Some injuries yes you would know but not this one. He will have known something was wrong but not the scale. He was able to continue and win which is extraordinary. Quote
L/H White Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Rafa has bottled it. Didn't want any part of Kyrgios Quote

Traf Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I still think the competition would be better with Kyrgios playing who Nadal just beat. Quote

bolty58 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I have no time for individual sports (breeds selfish fuckers IMO) but note that the Aussie fruitcake Kyrgios has had a free pass into the Final. What a cunt he is. No real interest but will look forward to hearing he's lost and incurred some ban or other for some obnoxious act. An embarrassment. Quote
