My view is that Dawson was exceptional his organisational skills were the key to our success he carried that fucking idiot ZK, add to that the 2 in front if the centre backs in particular Spearing were immense, also throw Eagles into the equation at this level he's as good as it gets when on song, I'm giving zero credit to Knight he's never been any good and never will be at this level, people should judge him on ability not his name or his height, he could not lace the boots of a proper centre half like Gudni, if Freeman does the honourable thing and disposes of ZK he will go up 10 fold in my estimation. Get it into your skulls ZK will never be a proper centre half, pinching a living.

I agree he's had his moments over the years and certainly isn't someone I'd champion for his time here.

 

The problem I have is we currently don't have anyone better.

 

I'm hoping wheater is just re adjusting after a long time out because what I have seen so far is concerning. I don't believe the club would of give him a 3 year deal if they didn't believe he would get back to his best. Again early days.

 

My personal take on knight is he constantly needs talking to and encouraged as his head drops far to easily.

 

Dawson marshalled him well last year. I do agree that u21 player on loan having to do that is a tad odd.

 

I reckon someone will come in, in the next few weeks to challenge that pairing.

I have a some respect for Freedman and I believe he will at some stage tire of Knight I just hope it's sooner rather than later. And if he doesn't the end for him can't come soon enough.

From what I have seen of Wheater at the moment, I cant agree. I hope this changes. Mills I had high hopes for but there must be a reason he isn't in with a shout (not sure why) his record is good at this level.

Dougie encouraged Spearing to sign and that's a more remarkable signing than Dawson. Dawson will be 4th or 5th choice at West Brom, and may well fancy a move down for games rather than a move to another Prem side who would potentially struggle.

 

I just hope it's a permanent signing.

 

Him and Bolger could be our CB pairing for the next 7-8 years at least.

It is no coincidence that no matter what we try to sort the defence out, new full backs, new keeper, new cb partner, more defensive midfielders in front of the defence, a new defence coach, numerous managers, none of it has worked because our defence is still shite with Zat Knight continuing to play week in week out.

The one thing that Freedman has done that I just can't get my head around. Admittedly there have been a few other strange decisions but he always has his reasoning for them which is fair enough and I can accept that.

 

Knight as captain though? Apart from the lesser of all evils (which is still not how i'd get to Knight) or picking out of a hat I just can't find one reason as to why he's been made captain. I'd love to just have a chat with Dougie and really pick his brains on what he sees in Knight and the qualities that make him a captain because he must have some, he's not the kind of person that makes a decision like that without solid reasoning.

 

Personally i'd have given that armband to Spearing the second he signed on the dotted line.

Captains been dropped before managers make mistakes and change their opinion, Knight keeps his current level of performance up and it's a matter of time, either that or Freedman falls on his own sword.
