Keys on strings nailed just above the letterbox on the inside front door, in case you had lost the front door key. Must have been well trustworthy folk in those days.

There was a Conservative club near me, I remember being out with my dad as a kid and seeing one of our neighbours walking purposefully up to and through the door of the Conny Club...

"Is Mr. So and So in the Conservative Party then?"

My dad just smiled. :)

Can any of the bus wankers amongst us confirm if you still get weirdos on buses who stand next to the driver talking to him all the time. There used to be one on the 506/507 all the time. He wore a coat like Columbo and had hairy ears iirc.

Not seen that, but have seen bus driver groupies, teenage girls stood by the cab chatting to the driver for the duration.

Clipper Cards on buses (do they still do them? I remember being pleased as fuckery when I got one)

Clipper cards are long gone. Used to be a lad in our year who's dad was a bus driver and made a killing selling all the discarded ones with one clip yet. Always loved the machine being broken and a not arsed driver just waving you on.

Videmat buses on the 82 to Bolton, you just chucked your change in a box, and got a massive ticket with your money printed on it, never lasted long.

They're the glass of choice in the Canary Kings Arms. Not my choice mind.
