Bubble Trips

Just been flicking through the Rovers forum and they don't seem happy about the arrangements for Burnley, saying its a 9 hour round trip for 14 miles, and a few are boycotting.

Others are saying it encourages idiots to act the big man behind police lines and further enforce the bubble trip for next year, alienating the true fans.

Bolton have never had one that I know of, how would you feel about it? Would you go to the game? Just do the trip on the train?

I think we did have a small allocation at Old Trafford in 95. There was however many more in the home end.

I was 11 and my old fella got me a ticket outside for face value in the Stratford end whilst he got one opposite!

When we scored lads jumping up and down all over the place. Memorable day, shame about the result.

Defo didn't get an allocation for that.  I was in main stand due to a season ticket holder not being able to go, certainly a fair few Bolton got in via various means though.

Went to both the Colchester and Torquay games.

Colchester was a friday night game just before xmas, turned up at the ground, around 615, gates open, noone around and just walked in. Noone was arsed about checking anything.

Torquay game, lots of whites got in, they werent too picky about who they let join their membership scheme. Also lots of locals willing to "lend" membership cards for a few pints.

Ditto.

Went both with my old man.

I know a Burnley fan who lives half way to Blackburn and who has to go to Burnley to then catch the bus back to Blackburn to go to the match

Isn't there a bloke who lives across the road from ewood and has to do that?

Is this the wrong time to ask what a bubble trip is? Ive read every comment and still dont know whats going on

All away fans have to travel by 'official' means, so have to turn up to their own team's ground and get bussed straight to the opposition ground - you only get given your match tickets when on the coaches so don't have much choice.

Cheers bud.

Leeds v Millwall is another where this has happened a few times - coach stops at nearby services where you get handed your match ticket.

Didn't Millwall take less than 50 to Leeds last year because of that along with an early kick off? Think the first ones were Cardiff at Swansea but could be wrong.

I think the closest Bolton had for a " Bubble Match " was on a previous thread about the 12-30 kick off at Southend on a boxing day.

You wouldn't catch me in a bubble trip.

You would however, still see me at the match

Remember getting escorted from the pig and porcupine on deansgate to old Trafford when we won 2-1.

Got there just as Veron scored.

Wankers.

I was in the pig and porcupine that day it was fun when a few reds got rounded up in our escort and we sussed them out, they shit themselves tried to escape through the police lines only to be dragged back into the escort by me and my mate:)

Yes you are right, seem to remember that Cardiff hired a few limos and said they were going to another event and managed to evade the "bubble" and get into Swansea.

i think the game you're referring to is the 97/98 game when bob taylor scored. 95/96 i think was 3-0 to those bastards, and no away fans at all were allowed into that filth infested dump

Miami is correct

I got two tickets through a sponsor. Sat about 10 feet from Bobby charlton and our bench was not much further.

Alan Stubbs was sat on it. This was the week after "watch this space".

Watch this space?

The cunt got it all game and a few urinals picked up a few new swear words.

When he came on you found out how many whites were in the stadium because there was a fucking huge booooooooooo when he did :D

So it's not just a jcl reebok thing :D

the day trippers worked us out early doors, enjoyed seeing the goals going in and let us know about it

the placing of a sheet of paper on the window mentioning 1958 and a german city didn't go down well

suffice to say said poster was hauled into his gaffers office on the monday

i remember a decent sized mob of us geting off at deansgate and walking down towards the pig and porcupine,a good mob came baling out of there and we thought ''game on'' only to see it was the Bolton lads already there. decent turn out from us that day

Last decent turn out at old Trafford IMO.

There were about 100 on the early train all got off at Deansgate but about 50 decided to get back on the train fir some reason probably 50-60 in the pub. The City game a few years later was interesting thanks to certain poster on here calling it on with City about about 3 hours after the game finished I counted and we had 27 lads opposed to about 100 City.

haha,i was there at the athenaeum against city. we came back in taxis from bolton to manchester to join in the fun. absolute suicide mission. smiffs, seasoned traveller and myself went back in there to get SB's phone back off their lot

Can remember both Wolves and Chelsea turning up at Burnden while banned. Chelsea in the early 80s - away travel for their fans banned after all kinds of naughtiness. Bolton away was the first game after the ban. They scored and half the Lever End was celebrating - they were marched around the ground to the Embankment with the away section having to be opened.

Then, Wolves in the fourth division (87/8) ... not a huge turnout from them but certainly a good few in the Burnden Stand. Bit of commotion when they were spotted but don't recall any serious trouble.

Last decent turn out at old Trafford IMO.

I'm sure we got kept behind for both those victories at old Trafford. Cracking atmosphere, 3000 lads giving it the dam busters ha ha!

Stupid that, bloody stupid.

Young and daft then......

At least we went back and had a drink with em, they said we were fucking mad...ah well.
