November 30, 201312 yr Riverside - not too far, only 5 min walk but a bastard of a hill to get back up after a rake of ale Bury Rd?
November 30, 201312 yr Wetherspoons, 33 steps Probably too close for my liking but we won't be here forever I don't think. Have you left the pub yet?
November 30, 201312 yr Builders arms 5 minutes away Only ever been in once though and its shit Walk 15 minutes to the queens head, only because its Superbocks favourite and he forces me to go though
November 30, 201312 yr Have you left the pub yet? Try to avoid going in, it's a slippery slope with it being so close. I treated Tomski to the delights of Leyland yesterday afternoon though
November 30, 201312 yr There's 3 in a cluster a few minutes walk away, but I go past them and another at least 3 before I start supping usually. The H Town tradition is to start at top end and work down though. Cow Friday
November 30, 201312 yr Builders arms 5 minutes away Only ever been in once though and its shit Walk 15 minutes to the queens head, only because its Superbocks favourite and he forces me to go though Garrps not a bad lad, but he has terrible taste in pubs and women. Nearest one to me is the pub where Iron Maiden formed. Nothing to write home about.

November 30, 201312 yr If any of your pubs are Marstons gaff, they are probably going to be closed in the next year. They are selling 200 pubs to a company that specialises in convienience outlets.

November 30, 201312 yr Cow Friday Stuck my head in the other day. Pool team won't be pleased but it looks good.
November 30, 201312 yr There's two - one is a nest of munich traitor vermin and the t'other stinks of chips and has a fucking soft toy grab machine... The now Munchen slaghaus was within earshot of a loud Burnden on many a cup night and was the last stop before The King Bill for many Great Lever, Lever Edge/MG and Farnworth Whites...It's heartbreaking. Brooklyn and Walkers? It's always been shite for boozers round there.
November 30, 201312 yr Brooklyn and Walkers? It's always been shite for boozers round there. Yes, Enzo. you're right, it's always been shite - The Little John and Queen Elizabeth are still going, the Queen Liz having the distinction of being the only pub I've managed to pull in without even setting foot in the place - I fancied a quick pint walking home from the station once, I had only been in the place maybe twice before, anyhow I was just about to walk in when some tasty young mum (36D) was on her way out, got chatting to her and like a chilvarous sort I offered to walk her home. The Brooklyn, well, it's probably best to avoid it when the scum are on telly unless you want a night in the cells...The real rot started when Holts took it over and the Diamond and Crystal acted as catnip to plastic 'Mancs' from Walkden, L/H, Farnworth etc. (who are a disgrace to the good folk of those areas) sadly there are also manc wannabe twats from G/L too. A potted history of the place Built in 1859 - a large imposing Victorian house, in grounds with lodge. In brick with sandstone facings. Numerous gables and pinnacles: ornamental stone chimney with hexagonal white mouldings at the top. Ornamental iron work on roof ridges. A mansard pyramidal roof. Interior (ground floor) has elaborately moulded ceilings and walls. Gatehouse in same style. Grounds originally much more extensive (approx. 8 acres). House was built originally for T. Walmsley (of Walmsley's Forge), later owned by Col. Wm. Walker (of Walker's Tannery), and had a chapel at this period. In 1926 became a licensed hotel. It's to my eternal shame that we probably contributed to the 'Chapel' (well, it was being used as a shelter for the bowlers) being knocked down, during our misspent youth, we used to congregate in there smoking dope and eventually the brewery had enough of our stoned antics and got the wrecking ball in. November 30, 201312 yr Bottom Spinners now we've moved, 2 min walk tops. Decent boozer especially if you like real ales. Good boozer is that, its on my dog walking route.
November 30, 201312 yr fuck off. greyhound just had a new lick of paint, tis ok anyway after the success of sober for october we are having another charity night for mcmillan nurses on friday 21st december. any prizes welcome. oh and mr cuntz , if you come in i am the one in an adult nappy and westie dog !!! To be fair, i'm still judging it from the 'lesbian era' (nice owners tho, wanderers fans) when there used to be a mad woman who went in and she would just casually wee on her stool. The last time i went in was around 18 months ago, seemed reet, but i didn't stay in long. Does it get a lot more custom now the windmill's gone? Edited November 30, 201312 yr by deane koontz
