Just trawled through these umpteen pages and agree with the yank below.

 

 

 

Went out for a walk to cool off. Came back to see that normal service, apart from the comment about me not being a Bolton fan, was resumed.

 

We lost 1-0 today to a penalty which came about via a bad decision from the goalkeeper, against a team that currently is 7th in the table. If you look (irrespective of club names) at a team in 18th losing 1-0 to a penalty kick against a team in 7th, nobody would bat an eyelid. We lost 2-1 to the team in 2nd last week, again nothing short of what was expected before the game. Of course, if you take into account that some people have this delusion that we should be challenging for promotion, then obviously people are disappointed (and before anybody quotes the whole "2nd favourites for promotion", remember that Wolves were last season too... bookies don't always get it right).

 

I will back Bolton til the day I day, and when I'm in England I go to every game I can (sometimes at the expense of missing my flight back to the US). Doesn't change the fact that we are not as good as so many on here think we are. We are now 20th. I dare say that's lower than we should be but I honestly see us as a mid-table team in this championship. We went on a bloody good run last season but I'd say we finished higher than we deserved on our season-wide showing.

 

I can see Dougie getting fired, and that makes me sad. I genuinely think he's got a plan in place for the next 2-3 seasons, and I genuinely think that plan has contingencies in case we do end up getting relegated. But really... what's the difference between Championship and League 1 (apart from the chance of getting promoted to the Premier League)? As long as we are financially stable I couldn't care less who we're playing against.

Not gonna happen thought is it Jay, it's n the blood. For all the pain of what we are going through now, I still think (with the restraints being placed on him - FFP -ED/PG?) he can do something for us. There's a lot more to this current situation than the results on the pitch (which i agree is ultimately what Managers get judged by).

We won't go down, I'll put money on that, and next season is when we can truly judge Freedman and his staff / team.

Fuck knows what the starting 11 will be next season, but I'd bet that they are a lot more committed and passionate than the bulk of he current squad.

Exactly. My worry us we give him the summer to work his weird and wonderful ways in the transfer market and then we'll be properly fucked next season.

Since Mcnaughton left we have gone rapidly downhill. When Feeney left he had just been MOM against Brum and we were looking far better going forward.
