HomerJay Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) Order of shitness Lee - great coach, terrible manager Coyle - nice bloke, shite tactician Freedman - unbelievably difficult job, doesn't spot the obvious Megson - signed decent talent, awful pr ability Who next? Fuck knows. I certainly don't envy PGs task here. Edited February 16, 2014 by HomerJay Quote
Traf Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 So, Lee coaching Megson's signings might have worked? Quote
HomerJay Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 So that's assistant manager and director of football done Still need a manager Quote
Morizio Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 until he was found out of fiddling expenses Quote
Seabiscuit Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Order of shitness Lee - lucky to last the 11 league matches he did Freedman - doesn't have the tactics to win home games in the 2nd Division. These home performances are worse than Sammy Lee's. Coyle - despite a very good first year and very bad luck with injuries worse than Megson Megson - overpaid for mostly average players but had more idea how to attack teams than Freedman and obviously better defensively than Coyle. A failure though like the other 3 Quote
Casino Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 These bad appointments have so far kept us in the top two leagues Quote
Juan.Kerr Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Fact is, we've been going downhill since Mr. Potato head left. Each succesive manager has promised more, and delivered less. Quote

Fuck knows. I certainly don't envy PGs task here. Megson was a lot worse than just a bad PR man but feel free to fiddle with the past I think it's very difficult with Sammy Lee; he could have turned it around or could have had us have the worst season ever....he didn't seem to get as much of a chance as the others Quote
jules_darby Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 These bad appointments have so far kept us in the top two leagueshmmm nice spin They have taken us from UEFA spot challengers to scrapping to stay up from where we haven't been for over 20 years Not many could have done worse Quote
Sweep Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 All gartsides doing Is ED not culpable as well, surely he has to ratify all managerial appointments? Quote
bolty58 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 when you've finished waffling, maybe you'll answer the question FFS, in the reserves, warming the bench, on gardening leave. Any cerebral stimulation yet or am I pissing in the wind? Quote
bolty58 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 if i said it was a success, i didn't mean it to be that way so, i'll put it another way relegation would be abject failure i'll tolerate staying up for this year and give him more time now, even you shouldn't be able to misconstrue that I can try. Seriously, I agree that staying up will be 'success' looking at our current predicament. Quote
Casino Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 FFS, in the reserves, warming the bench, on gardening leave. Any cerebral stimulation yet or am I pissing in the wind? he did that with mears it doesn't work they just sit tight getting their 20k a week Quote
bolty58 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 he did that with mears it doesn't work they just sit tight getting their 20k a week Maybe but my point is that they wouldn't be playing and, for most players, that eventually breaks them. Quote
Bobcat Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Is ED not culpable as well, surely he has to ratify all managerial appointments? The whole board is guilty of mismanaging this football club..... Quote
only1swanny Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 mismanagement maybe ? Mears was a rightback in a championship team that did quite well.. Clearly must have SOMETHING about him.. but Freedman can't get it out of him.. and has basically written off his whole contract.. seems daft in reality. Quote
Sweep Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Maybe but my point is that they wouldn't be playing and, for most players, that eventually breaks them. I think it used to, but I don't think it does so much now, certainly not the ones earning a decent wedge. Players used to move on to somewhere they thought they wouyld be guaranteed first team action, these days you have players quite content to sign for a club knowing full well they will be just a squad player. It's not about the glory anymore, it's all about the money!.............and to be honest I don't blame them Quote
DazBob Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I think it's very difficult with Sammy Lee; he could have turned it around or could have had us have the worst season ever....he didn't seem to get as much of a chance as the others Well, we were below Derby when he was potted ... by much less than we are now, mind. Joking aside. Lee had the temerity to drop the likes of Nolan and Speed. Those players had so much influence in the dressing room he never stood a chance after that. The fact that he's never tried his hand at managing elsewhere since suggests to me he never really did and never really does see himself as a manager though. Quote
Sweep Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 The whole board is guilty of mismanaging this football club..... I agree, the current predicament we find ourselves in is down to mismanagement from top to bottom over the past few years Quote
