We ended up in the middle of nowhere once, half a dozen of us with them coming up the hill in numbers... Fucking relieved when a Police horse appeared and trampled them.

I believe from my elders that Blackburn were quite rough back in the 60's, when their mob were mainly greasers/rockers (Bolton has always been mainly mod/skinhead ) & once had a go at the Lever End, but by the 70's, Bolton were well on top, doing what we wanted in their town & chasing them all round their ground .(before the fences were  up ). For years Blackburn didn't come to Burnden, until they got police escorts & a safe away section.....& even then they struggled !!

 

Their worst day was in 78 when we took over all Ewood, including taking their end, & rubbed it in after the match by taking over their pub (The Adelphi ) again.The only B/burn fan who showed up was their leader (Birdy ) who had a scruffy dog with him, with a Rovers' scarf tied round its neck. Quite rightly, nobody bothered him.

I was clocked on the side of the head coming away from Ewood when Kev Nolan scored the winner in that 4-3 match, well worth it for the day out though. And yes I do see these as our main rivals due to the fact of how many head to head matches we've had over the recent years. 1-1 for me today, jutkiewicz with the opener.
