Casino Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Very good player on his day as are most in this division anyway, one thing that caught my attention middlesbrough able to pay over 3 million quid, without parachute money their gates aren't a million miles from ours lower wage bill? Quote

I wouldn't say most but there's a few, like our Mark Davies for example and if the only time you see them is "those games"..... I was wondering about Boro. Did they get a few quid for Emnes? Gibson doesn't seem the daft type.... Quote

So It looks from that like all parties are in on him wanting to join us But he could end up at Burnley So if it goes wrong and DF will be livid, what does that suggest is the plan here? Is PG banking on Burnley not seeing the deal through? Quote
gonzo Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 What the fookin ell do Burnley want with him anyway?? They've already signed one championship duffer. Quote

One theory is that Burnley are feigning a big interest in Juke to try & put pressure on their real target or the target's club ( maybe Deeney at Watford) Of course, this could be nothing but wishful thinking. COYW Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Wrong. He's having to wheel and deal now because he has less money in parachute payments and now has to work within FFP. He has less money because he's spent most of it in failing to win promotion in either of the last two seasons. We threw a load of money at it last season in an attempt to get back before the reduced payments started. Quote
Casino Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 we've failed to get promoted as the squad cnuto lumbered us with on prem money was full of gutless wankers the squad the cnut said was 'the one he'd have wanted even if we hadn't been relegated' Quote
COYW Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 I'm just from the school that believes you give managers 5 years before you can really judge them. Nowadays it is all about short term results. Even if we managed to get promoted last season, then what? Back to having to overpay for average players, hunt short term success with more money invested from ED? Personally I can stick with this division for a while if it means we improve our younger players and build a more stable club that isn't about chasing 17th in the premiership by investing in overrated players who we pay too much to. This is his third season. That's not 'short term'. By now he should have assembled a team capable of competing at the top end of this league with the resources at his disposal. You don't necessarily need to overpay for average players to survive in the Premier League. Swansea are one example. What sort of crowds do you think we'll be getting after a few more seasons in the Championship? It's all very well for supporters to say that they don't mind if we're in this league for a while but if we don't go up sooner rather than later, gates will continue to drop. Quote

We threw a load of money at it last season in an attempt to get back before the reduced payments started. The first season DF came in during October with the team in free fall. He got us to the fringe of the play offs using loans and a couple of shrewd signings in January. How that can be construed as his failure is a very skewed view. Quote

There's no consolation prize for finishing on 'the fringe of the play-offs'. Quote
Carlos Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 Is there a consolation for not being relegated when that's where we were heading? Quote
Farrelli Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 You are an idiot then because you won't acknowledge that when DF arrived we were in a mess. We were lucky not to go the same way as Wolves. Quote

We were in a mess last season. After ten games we looked like we were heading the same way as Wolves. We were never out of the bottom half of the table. Was that all part of the grand plan? Quote

It is pointless debating with someone like you as you cannot be reasoned with. Quote

You mentioned that he's rescued us in his first season. I pointed out that we were back in the shit after ten games last season. It's not that complicated unless you struggle with plain English. We threw a load of money at it last season in an attempt to get back before the reduced payments started. You're really not grasping this FFP thing are you? He could have saved every penny from last year, had it sat as cash in our bank, he still couldn't have spent it this year as our income has reduced and therefore out spending has to reduce to stay within the FFP loss limit. Last summer is irrelevant. Let it go Quote

It must be an unhappy world that you live in. Quote
