  • I'm not convinced about that. He comes across as more deluded than Coyle on occasions.

Try reading the last post properly.

The success of his signings isn't the issue. Claiming that he's had no money to spend is.

I never said he HAD fuck all money to spend, I said he HAS fuck all money to spend.

Big difference, like I say I don't care about what he did 12 months ago, I'm happy with what he's doing now

Not as big a McNaughton fan as many on here

We'll see

in that camp to, he gets caught wrong side hes fecked and often commits fouls.

Having said that he did make us more solid when here last season so im all for his return

got more hope for this coming season than i have for a few.

I never said he HAD fuck all money to spend, I said he HAS fuck all money to spend.

He's having to wheel and deal now because he's already spent the money, not because he never had the money in the first place. That's the difference.

So last season, when he (in your own words) 'spent more than nearly anyone else' (in my words( 'except for those that spent much more', he was actually working with 2 seasons budget, not just one ?

If thats the case, he's doing a better job than I thought.

Can we not all agree that COYW is correct and has a point, then he might just shut the fuck up?

You've not really thought that through have you?

When Freedman came in he had to rebuild an entire team. To do that he's not had nearly enough to spend to just do it in a hurry.

I don't know if Freedman is any good or not, but neither does anyone else really. Why can't people just wait a few seasons and see. It isn't like there are many great options to come and build a team slowly with little money available to them. We have been overpaying on players for a number of years now and that catches up with you. Elmander, Knight, NGog, Sordell. Lot of money in them and certainly more than Freedman will see here for a very, very long time. All have left now and we got about half a million back.

Mohamad Besic, deal done.

I'm all for giving Freedman this season at the moment but this "we don't know if he's any good yet" is bollocks; he is a Manager not just a recruiter and his job is to manage the team

He's done that for long enough for us for us to be able to judge his performance

By all means take into consideration some of the shit he inherited but come on let's stop making excuses for him

I'm just from the school that believes you give managers 5 years before you can really judge them. Nowadays it is all about short term results. Even if we managed to get promoted last season, then what? Back to having to overpay for average players, hunt short term success with more money invested from ED? Personally I can stick with this division for a while if it means we improve our younger players and build a more stable club that isn't about chasing 17th in the premiership by investing in overrated players who we pay too much to.

none of that eradicates the odd decisions DF and co have made etc...I don't believe it should be completely ignored because he's not been here 5 years.

For the record I too could take this division for a few years if it helps stabilise the club.

I'm not convinced it would - we've seen examples of debt ridden clubs on the slide have elongated periods outside of the top flight work for them and they come back stronger whereas with others they stagnate completely

Who knows, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if there is a period of consolidation. For me though there has to be signs of the right team are in charge and there is a real plan that we are on track for

Bosnian world cup midfielder

Yep, I'm with you, Jules. I want to see signs we're heading in the right direction even if we stay in this division for a while.

After the debt-enhancing years in the Prem, I'm not in much of a hurry to see us back there anyway. Unless we do it on a take-the-money-and-go-back-down basis next time.

He's having to wheel and deal now because he's already spent the money, not because he never had the money in the first place. That's the difference.

Wrong. He's having to wheel and deal now because he has less money in parachute payments and now has to work within FFP.

We spent what we could last year and pushed as much of the loss into last year as possible because we knew we couldn't do it this year.

So presumably McNaughton, who was a Premier League player for most of last season, is on less than Baptiste was.

Cardiff used McNaughton before they were promoted. They did not see him as a PremierLeague standard player, so they allowed him out on a short loan which was extended.

In the whole season he had 6 starts for Cardiff, plus 3 substitute appearances. 22 players had more appearances.

He may have been "in the Premier League" but I doubt he was ever on silly money. He was, however, very popular with the fans at least in the promotion season.

Effectively he rebuilt his career at Cardiff after several years with Aberdeen, but now knows he is regarded as surplus to requirements. He can marshal a defence, and has captaincy experience.

Mohamad from Beswick, deal done.

Is that a stuck on comedy beard?

No, he's eating a cat.

Clayton was excellent at our place last season

Very good player on his day

Agree, stand out player for them all season by all accounts.

Strange this though, Boro sell Juke to fund Clayton, who will probably be replaced by Andrews from us, who's wages will help fund the purchase of... Oh hang on..

Also Nixon just tweeted that no fee has been agreed between Burnley and Boro. When it is apparently we will get a call...

Plot thickens, like a grannies discharge

Nixons tweet confirming if a fee agreed this should happen...

@reluctantnicko: Gibson due to call Gartside ... agent due to call Dougie ... Juke due to call Dougie ... Still waiting.

Also what he said if we don't get Juke..

@reluctantnicko: Would not want to be around your gaffer if Juke thing goes wrong ...
