tylswhite Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Not as big a McNaughton fan as many on here We'll see The one question to answer is do you think is he better or worse than Baptiste? I think defensively he is slightly better. Its a bit of a meh sort of swap though really imo. Quote

Guest bwfcdan Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Darius Danesh is plan D Our away kit could cause a few issues for him. Quote
mourinho Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 3 points is quite close Also 3 teams, so no, not quite close Quote
smeghead83 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Very pleased to have Mcnaughton back, he was a steadying influence on the back line last season. He's by no means any kind of flair player but holds his position well. Quote
COYW Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 So presumably McNaughton, who was a Premier League player for most of last season, is on less than Baptiste was. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I like Mcnaughton he's a proper professional and very organized defender and most important think he's a talker and will organise the back line, however his age is against him for me happy it's only a 1 year loan. Quote
tylswhite Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 So presumably McNaughton, who was a Premier League player for most of last season, is on less than Baptiste was. I would say yes. We have only signed McNaughton on loan so might not be paying the full whack. Baptiste was a free and probably on high wages as well. Quote
Guest Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Also 3 teams, so no, not quite close One win away Quote
Whites man Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Not as big a McNaughton fan as many on here We'll see You are just being contrary now. Like Hutton he is a neat and tidy footballer who did a professional no thrills his at full back, the kind of player we have needed in that position for a few seasons. Quote
Eddie Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 So presumably McNaughton, who was a Premier League player for most of last season, is on less than Baptiste was. Is there anything we do where you just think, yeah I'm happy with that? McNaughton for Baptiste should be one of those things where you do, it's already a change that has proven to improve our team, we've now got that improvement for a whole season. As for questioning the finance, seen as we know Dougie has fuck all money to work with I doubt he's swapping out right back for one on more money. Quote
Danny G Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I would be very surprised Blackburn are paying all of Baptistes wages, likewise we wont be paying all of McNaughtons Quote

Like Hutton he is a neat and tidy footballer who did a professional no thrills his at full back, the kind of player we have needed in that position for a few seasons. You may disagree with my opinion but I'm not just being contrary; I documented my thoughts on McNaughton on here when he was with us; I just don't think he's as solid as others and I felt he lost a lot of possession too. However I would have him over Baptiste I'm not saying it's a terrible signing I just said let's see how he does... Quote
maje Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Hoping mcnaughton is only a one year loan because dougie thinks a fully fit Riley and White will both be fighting to be first team regulars before the loan is up. Here's hoping anyway. Quote
Whites man Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Fair play Jules, it's about opinions and whilst I may not agree with them if they have some thought behind them then fair enough. Quote
paulhanley Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 If we get McNaughton I feel we've got a really strong defence for the new season. As last season wore on Baptiste became more and more clumsy and unreliable. McNaughton is very steady, we've got four pretty trustworthy centre backs, and while I haven't seen Moxey all reports are good. We have Mark Davies, Danns and Chungy but a little more creativity in the midfield would be good (losing Moritz wasn't a good thing in my view) However we clearly need two new centre forwards, one of them preferably being Juke. If we can get sort that, I think we might be equipped to challenge for the top 6. It would also be good to ship out Keith Andrews and Craig Davies and get three of four of the younger players on the fringe of the team out on loan. Quote
Ratwhite Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I would be happy with two strikers (Juke or not; not bothered) We have about 17 midfielders and the McNaughton signing dosen't change a thing with likes of Threlkeld or Riley, Baptiste was always in front of them. All in all the "squad" is looking stronger. Just need the front line sorting. Quote
COYW Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 As for questioning the finance, seen as we know Dougie has fuck all money to work with I doubt he's swapping out right back for one on more money. That's the whole point. If we paid more to the player we've just offloaded than a player in the Premier League was earning, then Dougie has obviously not had 'fuck all money to work with' has he? Quote

I give up, carry on moaning. I don't care what he did last summer, the situation was different then. I'll just look at what he's doing this summer and I'm happy with it so far. Quote
Carlos Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 This summer = less parachute money. It ain't difficult. Quote
COYW Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 This summer = less parachute money. It ain't difficult. The budget is a result of not being promoted last season. Let's not pretend that Dougie is blameless. He spent a small fortune last summer on both transfer fees and wages and we spent the entire season in the bottom half of the league. The excuse was that he needed to offload Coyle's 'deadwood'. Well we're now offloading his deadwood. Quote
EyesRight Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Last season is written off, look forward to the new season. I'm excited as it looks as if we are solid in defence and midfield now, a couple of decent strikers and we are in good shape. Roll on Watford, EIEIEIO Quote
Carlos Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 Was an excuse needed? It was there for all to see; we were in freefall with cunts like Mears. If we are slagging off Dougie because not every one of his signings was a total success then fucking boooooooooo! Quote
COYW Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The success of his signings isn't the issue. Claiming that he's had no money to spend is. Quote
