Df - Nearly 2 Years On......................

To the surprise of many he was appointed late Oct 2012 - nearly two years ago to a team which consisted of a Premier League squad. We were favourites for promotion at the beginning of the season, yet the start had been disappointing under Coyle. The brief though was simple as per his GMR interview shortly after his appointment - promotion. The start was disappointing and although we went on a strong run in the early part of 2013, even the play-offs were found to be beyond our grasp, such had been the poor start in his first 2/3 months.

We started the following season second favourites for promotion. What followed was the clubs worse start in over 100 years and people fearing the unthinkable - relegation. Although things picked up slightly in the New Year, when the season had effectively ended, the play-offs were never in sight and another disappointing season came to a close.

This current season has once again started in a disappointing manner and worse then last years at the current time - 1 point from 3 games. DF tried to hoodwink everyone at the start of the season by stating that the fans and the clubs expectations are aligned - no they are not.

Common themes throughout his tenure are inconsistent/negative team formations, players playing out of position and a general lack of entertainment.  He has also proved himself on numerous occasions to be tactically inept and I can barely remember him making a positive impact with a sub.

He now claims that he now has a fantastic honest bunch of players. Unfortunately they are not very good at doing what they are paid to do - play football and they are yours.

We are fast approaching D-day, and the indications are clearly there for all to see. DF is not the man for this club and is clearly out of his depth. Indeed in this day and age he has been very lucky to last this long.

A decision needs making quick and there are far more experienced Managers with better CV's currently out of work. Billie Davies springs to mind.

Come on Eddie get your finger out and put DF and the fans out of our misery.

  • What baffles me completely is Dfs priorities in terms of attitude and desire. It's something the fans like to hear yet we have the resilience and heart of a frozen pea. We NEVER look comfortable wit

Seems to be increasing stick for Spearing here. Thousands were singing for him to be signed up at the start of last season. It was the only thing I remember from Burnley other than the boos for Andrews

A fair few games have passed since then though.

He's been dog shit since we signed him permanently, that's why.

I'd love to see his pass completion percentage when he was on loan versus signing permanently.

He continuously gives the ball away.

Bolton curse at the minute though, we could sign Messi and he'd turn to shit over night.

When he came into the team he was playing in a 4-4-2 alongside M Davies, Eagles, etc, etc. He brought in a bit of steel and was there to win the ball and give it to others.

Now working with Trotter, Feeney, etc he seems to be trying to play like Stevie G. He just isn't good enough for that - he is a very decent championship ball winner, grafter - nothing more.

Agreed...the lack of a good creative midfield player & the poor form of the wingers, is forcing good ballwinners & grafters like Spearing & Medo to try & do more with the ball......not very successfully.

while the spearing knockathon gathers pace, how many of our goals haven't come from his free kicks

Dangerous game to play that. Who's pass set Brighton on for the winner?

What exactly has he got about him? I don't understand this at all.

His record at Palace is almost identical to his record here. He's done nowt. He'll continue to do nowt.

Well I didn't mean it in the sense that he would ever be a good football manager. But he comes across as intelligent and a thinker and someone with ideas and is articulate, at least by football manager standards. It is a shame that nothing he does is working and that he seems to be forever chasing his tail. Because he is the sort of person I'd not mind representing Bolton Wanderers if it had worked out. As bad as he has been results and performance wise he is clearly not empty headed or ignorant.

It just isn't working out and perhaps he just isn't cut out for management. He may do well at a different club, who knows? I think the job here is too big for him at this stage in his career though.

Taken in by the authoritative Scottish accent

We've had 8 shots on target in 8 games.

Ridiculous.

Pathetic.

Embarrassing.

Great report in BN Monday verdict today btw.

Only just read the match verdict now, don't think I've read anything as critical as that by Mark Iles before

You know it's bad when the local rag and especially him write a piece as damning as that.

Beat me to it.

I concur.

I've been quite impressed with his improvement in dead ball deliveries this season.

Credit were it's due.

Just a shame he's been shit with a moving ball.

I hope he sky plused the mk dons game tonight. Since he is a big fan of studying other coaches and methods , he could learn something there.
