Df - Nearly 2 Years On......................

To the surprise of many he was appointed late Oct 2012 - nearly two years ago to a team which consisted of a Premier League squad. We were favourites for promotion at the beginning of the season, yet the start had been disappointing under Coyle. The brief though was simple as per his GMR interview shortly after his appointment - promotion. The start was disappointing and although we went on a strong run in the early part of 2013, even the play-offs were found to be beyond our grasp, such had been the poor start in his first 2/3 months.

We started the following season second favourites for promotion. What followed was the clubs worse start in over 100 years and people fearing the unthinkable - relegation. Although things picked up slightly in the New Year, when the season had effectively ended, the play-offs were never in sight and another disappointing season came to a close.

This current season has once again started in a disappointing manner and worse then last years at the current time - 1 point from 3 games. DF tried to hoodwink everyone at the start of the season by stating that the fans and the clubs expectations are aligned - no they are not.

Common themes throughout his tenure are inconsistent/negative team formations, players playing out of position and a general lack of entertainment.  He has also proved himself on numerous occasions to be tactically inept and I can barely remember him making a positive impact with a sub.

He now claims that he now has a fantastic honest bunch of players. Unfortunately they are not very good at doing what they are paid to do - play football and they are yours.

We are fast approaching D-day, and the indications are clearly there for all to see. DF is not the man for this club and is clearly out of his depth. Indeed in this day and age he has been very lucky to last this long.

A decision needs making quick and there are far more experienced Managers with better CV's currently out of work. Billie Davies springs to mind.

Come on Eddie get your finger out and put DF and the fans out of our misery.

Not many who would crawl over broken glass for the job, Brownie would be one of them but could he do a better job than Dougie?

Between a wet sock and downward dougie, I choose the wet sock every time. Get Brownie, do it now, at least then we're in with a chance of the play offs

A lot of hard drink being taken tonight.

This is THE Phil Brown we're talking about isn't it? The one who has some pretty much nothing but go on a downward spiral for years?

You'll be suggesting Peter Taylor, David O'Leary or the ghost of John Bond next.

What's Gary Megson up to these days?

being a cunt

Steve Clarke not doing owt

What baffles me completely is Dfs priorities in terms of attitude and desire. It's something the fans like to hear yet we have the resilience and heart of a frozen pea. We NEVER look comfortable with a lead and sit back when losing. I'm starting to think he just likes players who don't question his tactics, don't moan when they're dropped and are happy to go along with anything the manager says. Admirable qualities but when they get on the pitch the lack of conviction and belief are there for all to see, just like they were with coyle. When the players look like they are comfortable and belive in whatever system they are being asked to play then we will have taken a big step forward. My worry is that we won't change things for a while yet for the sole reason that 'we aren't that type of club'

A few games in and I'm already dreading the next home game. I don't want to dread going to the game cringing when people are booing. I want to feel like it's us against the world and if you have more ability we will sure as fuck give you a good game.

How long is left on his contract?

How long is left on his contract?

Couple of years at least. Maybe we can turn it into a playing contract and stick him up front.

thats where we come in

When it was us against the world we had characters who would roll their sleeves up and get stuck in every match, every position. Now we've too many shirkers and not enough workers.

Which of our current squad would you want beside you if it goes off ?

Neil Warnock - available but a cunt, would do a job

Steve Clarke - available but can't see him coming, no experience in Championship

Phil Brown - would cost to take him, failed at a few clubs, only managing in league 2 now

Tony Pulis - available but unlikely to drop a division, will wait for a prem team to come in

Malky MacKay - see Pulis, plus LMA investigation

Keith Hill - in a job, tried and failed at Championship

I'd take any of them if possible.

Steve Clarke

Martin Jol

Malky MacKay

Houghton

Sherwood

Brown

Pulis

Hill

Warnock

Et al.......

The management roundabout has better than we currently have, its probably at its richest moment

However

How do you sell it to them?

Gartside won't, he's clueless & got lucky once early on.

But keep on defending him people.

Why us nobody mentioning Billy Davies?

It won't be long before the DF apologists are along to say we don't know what his targets are and that he's probably doing a good job of bringing down the wage bill whilst we get effortlessly shitter on the pitch

Steve Clarke or Sherwood from that lot for me.  Don't think either would come though or anyone decent for that matter.

We are such a tough sell and anyone experienced or with a good rep would more than likely give us a wide berth.  A young up and comer trying to make a name is what we will most likely get . . . and so it goes

Don't think we are a tough sell. If you are out of work, you'll be on a decent wage and in a position to build to rebuild your reputation.

They'll be queuing up. It's not exactly working at McDonalds.

Now you've got my mind really boggling, Traf.

This.

Maybe not queuing up, or not all of them anyway, but it's a decent paid job at a Championship (so far) club which can be turned around with a little nous and some good coaching.

can you imagine if we got tim sherwood

shudder

We need someone the players will respect from the off Malky would be good Steve Clark don't fancy Chris Houghton I'd like to thing we could attract a better candidate than Keith hill browny or dave flitcroft Alex Mcleish would have been ok for me I wouldn't mind Warnock either or holloway baggage but safe pair of hands and proven or lets do a boro and get random foreigner

Dave Jones? Actually nah
