Df - Nearly 2 Years On......................

To the surprise of many he was appointed late Oct 2012 - nearly two years ago to a team which consisted of a Premier League squad. We were favourites for promotion at the beginning of the season, yet the start had been disappointing under Coyle. The brief though was simple as per his GMR interview shortly after his appointment - promotion. The start was disappointing and although we went on a strong run in the early part of 2013, even the play-offs were found to be beyond our grasp, such had been the poor start in his first 2/3 months.

We started the following season second favourites for promotion. What followed was the clubs worse start in over 100 years and people fearing the unthinkable - relegation. Although things picked up slightly in the New Year, when the season had effectively ended, the play-offs were never in sight and another disappointing season came to a close.

This current season has once again started in a disappointing manner and worse then last years at the current time - 1 point from 3 games. DF tried to hoodwink everyone at the start of the season by stating that the fans and the clubs expectations are aligned - no they are not.

Common themes throughout his tenure are inconsistent/negative team formations, players playing out of position and a general lack of entertainment.  He has also proved himself on numerous occasions to be tactically inept and I can barely remember him making a positive impact with a sub.

He now claims that he now has a fantastic honest bunch of players. Unfortunately they are not very good at doing what they are paid to do - play football and they are yours.

We are fast approaching D-day, and the indications are clearly there for all to see. DF is not the man for this club and is clearly out of his depth. Indeed in this day and age he has been very lucky to last this long.

A decision needs making quick and there are far more experienced Managers with better CV's currently out of work. Billie Davies springs to mind.

Come on Eddie get your finger out and put DF and the fans out of our misery.

Random foreigner?

Coached the very successful Spain youth side (u-16) for three years before being an assistant at Real Madrid.

Knows the Spainish set up very well and is good at nurturing young talent.

Somebody at 'Boro did their homework and he'll be a decent coach/manager. (not necessarily in England, though)

Let's get hierro and campo in!!

Let's get hierro and campo in the midfield

Edited for you

We've had 8 shots on target in 8 games.

Ridiculous.

Pathetic.

Embarrassing.

Great report in BN Monday verdict today btw.

Definition of madness - doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different outcome. Freedman, his cohorts, and the hug a dougie brigade please take note

We've had 8 shots on target in 8 games.

That includes penalties, doesn't it?

So we have scored 4 of our 8 shots on target, I'll head over to the positives thread.

Rotherham have only scored two goals but have six points.

Am still in the keep the manager in camp but I'm now believing this might not be a happy ending for Douglas and BWFC. If he goes, would like Hill in also.

2 years on and in that 2 years seen our worst ever start, joint heaviest defeat, signed some real shit and shit on the park

In fairness to Dougie, Owen left that on his desk when he left, along with the old...

I had mine in a table but the format was fked.

Much better Traf, hahaha

Well proven that you need stability with a long term manager.

Having said that, it is difficult to see where/how DF can possibly turn this around. I said at the time of Coyles departure that we needed a head kicker (I was heavily in the Mick McCarthy camp and still think he'd have been the right man for the job).

We all know the change has to come. Just a question of how long it takes Eddie and Phil to bite the bullet and, hopefully, recruit the right bloke this time.

Charlie Nicholas bullshit bingo is more predictable

This.

Maybe not queuing up, or not all of them anyway, but it's a decent paid job at a Championship (so far) club which can be turned around with a little nous and some good coaching.

Don't think we are a tough sell. If you are out of work, you'll be on a decent wage and in a position to build to rebuild your reputation.

They'll be queuing up. It's not exactly working at McDonalds.

I would agree with that in relation to three or four names on that list e.g. Brown, Hill and Warnock.  You honestly think Pulis or Jol would look at a vacancy at BWFC and think, "Blimey, what a great career opportunity!"?  Maybe, if they have been out of work a good while . . .

Nothin against us, but with our financial constraints I just can't see us as an attractive proposition at all (to managers with some pedigree).

Happy to be proven wrong mind, and can't really see the club gettin rid of DF any time soon anyways

Warnock has retired down south. Keith Hill is a lower league manager who struggled when he stepped up to the Championship last time. Not sure what you're getting with Phil Brown. He did well in his caretaker stint before Allardyce arrived but that was a long time ago. Agree about Pulis and Jol. No chance. Chris Hughton, Steve Clarke, Paul Clements? Maybe.

Freedman won't turn this round now. It is a shame because he obviously has something about him but he looks completely out of his depth here. Any manager coming in will have very little to spend if anything at all so the priority has to be someone who is able to find some hidden gems. The most disappointing thing about Freedman is his transfer record at Palace was good with hardly any money available but for us he's bought players who looked average signings at best. He seemed to lack imagination. Jedinak or Spearing for example.

I don't really know who is out there with the sort of track record we'd need. It is no good looking short term because we need some stability as a football club. Steve Clarke might be an interesting shout but again he's unproven in this sort of a scenario.

What exactly has he got about him? I don't understand this at all.

His record at Palace is almost identical to his record here. He's done nowt. He'll continue to do nowt.
