March 20, 20179 yr British values- democracy free speech etc. Reckon there's very few brexiteers actually want Scotland to go, but if ultimately they choose to then OK; get on with it and move on. Every chance they will get a vote some time after brexit, but that will be the last for a long time irrespective of the outcome.
March 20, 20179 yr Realistically they are a country of just over 5 million. They are subsidised by England to the hilt, yet its never enough. Free prescriptions, university places etc etc. Their largest market is England. If they want to go then let em. It really will not hurt England. Many countries in eastern Europe and former Yugoslavia have gained independence this last 25 years. Its never the disaster people make out. You seem terrified of change. Change is very often the thing that sparks opportunities and prosperity. I love change as long as we are going in the right direction A huge fan of free market capitalism and globalisation, not a fan of us taking trading relations back decades / centuries I think the break up of a union that's lasted hundreds of years isn't good change it's a huge step backwards The argument I often here is that it's fine as it will hurt them more than it will us, both with BREXIT & Scottish independence. It's like saying it's fine that we are only losing a hand as they will lose a whole arm, brilliant philosophy! I'd much rather we go down a path of gaining something that will make us and our neighbours stronger rather than weaker. I'd be happy for Scotland and the rest of the EU to be growing at 10% if it meant we were growing at 5%. It seems many would rather that we go backwards 5% if they are going backwards 10% - Fucking barmy
March 20, 20179 yr It seems many Brexit folk also want Scotland to go. I thought we wanted to preserve British values and way of life ? I want Scotland to stay part of the UK there are a large number of Pro British jocks and I dont want them to be outside of the UK due to the SNP and their anti English anti UK agenda.
March 20, 20179 yr The values of freedom and democracy are the same whether for the EU referendum or the Scottish vote; if people want to , great, if not, then they are free to go. I hope they stay, but I respect whichever way they vote. We should also have a say, though
March 20, 20179 yr We should also have a say, though Why should we? We wouldn't have been happy if the rest of the EU had a say in the Brexit referendum we've just had
March 20, 20179 yr Why should we? We wouldn't have been happy if the rest of the EU had a say in the Brexit referendum we've just had UK citizens resident in (rest of) EU who had been on the UK electoral role in the previous 15 years had a right to vote re exiting EU. Seems reasonable to allow any UK resident who had been on a Scottish electoral role in the same period to vote now. Salmond pulled a stunt by bringing in votes for 16/17 year-olds. Cameron was too weak to intervene. Can't see May letting Mrs Murrell extend it to 12 year-olds. Anyway I have a (long dead) Scottish great-grandmother so I'd appreciate a right to vote! [And my half-uncle, who had emigrated to Dundee, once gave me half a crown - family said he never gave any of them a penny.]
March 20, 20179 yr Why should we? We wouldn't have been happy if the rest of the EU had a say in the Brexit referendum we've just had Just a bit devils advocate If we did the vote, it would certainly be an interesting campaign!
March 20, 20179 yr We're in charge we can fuck them off anytime. Sweaty sock cunts, push us too far and you'll get culloden again.
March 20, 20179 yr Can we not have a referendum to fuck them off? went to Singapore so had a read about the history of the place turns out they were kicked out of the Malaysian Federation or whatever it was called then one of the few places to gain independence getting sacked rather than resign
March 21, 20179 yr You're reet. Again. Fucking stop it. Sorry Mick. Off to give my head a wobble. The seasons have just changed We can't go on together with solsticious minds (and before Readers Bipest gets on his high horse, yes, I know that December and June are the correct months).
March 21, 20179 yr It seems many Brexit folk also want Scotland to go. I thought we wanted to preserve British values and way of life ? I think you are overlooking a nuance or two there Ani. I always voted for the Conservative & Unionist Party when I was in the UK. Staunchly believe in the Union but, and it's a big but, if the fucking ingrates who have been a millstone around our neck for centuries, receiving far more than they have given, suddenly want to take their ball home then fuck them. Yes, if that's how they voted I would be be delighted to give them a cheery wave and leave them to it (even if months later they were at the UK doorstep begging to be part of it again - and if you remember last time, the oil price absolutely plummeted not long after their referendum and doesn't Salmond believe that North Sea oil and gas is all theirs and will be their saviour?). Irrespective of the argument about who owns what (and there's no fucking way Scotland would get the rights to all of it) can you imagine having an economy which solely relies on the volatility of fossil fuel prices? As others have suggested, I think this is just playing politics and they are trying once again to get a bigger say on EU negotiations than their paltry 5 million population deserves. No wonder she is beseeching Remoaners from south of the border to move to Scotland. With a pipsqueak population like that, they have little chance of becoming an economic success story.
March 21, 20179 yr 90% of the oil they would expect to get using precedents set when uk and Norway split the North Sea. But the most important thing here is just like all of you who voted remain and moaned about it and feel unjustly treated if Scotland vote out there will be people who feel hard done to and don't want to leave. To start shouting fuck em let em Leave and all that shite is frankly fucking stupid

For one, I don't believe there will be another Scottish referendum and even if there is, it will probably be a similar result.
March 21, 20179 yr Not excited per Se. More a topic close to my heart that effects me and whether folk believe it not will affect the uk greatly.
March 21, 20179 yr Not excited per Se. More a topic close to my heart that effects me and whether folk believe it not will affect the uk greatly. It won't affect the rest of the UK much, but Scotland could be fucked for a very long time. It's those Brits in Scotland I feel sorry for. That said, if they do get another vote, l doubt it will be a different result to last time. Edited March 21, 20179 yr by boltondiver
March 21, 20179 yr can somebody use the crystal ball that is beinnused to forecast that "Britain wouldn't suffer" from Scotland leaving the uk and tell us how brexit is going to pan out please. Given the surety with which you are all predicting it won't matter. Also I will have a bet with anyone on here that if they get a referendum which I believe they will It will be a different outcome Than last time in my opinion with no crystal ball being used.
March 21, 20179 yr Elaborate on that point please. I find it very interesting You won't when you get his response. Just being glib.

The British oil fields are just that, created with British investment. If Scotland wanted them then some compensatory agreement would be needed.
March 21, 20179 yr One of the main reasons for global oil prices tanking is the rise of fracking perticularly in the US We've got fucking loads of the stuff under our feet, if it does come to the Scott's leaving then they can have the North Sea oil off Aberdeen, we just need to fuck these anti frackers off and get digging Send the diggers in

Rather than you scoffing at the assumption that Britain WON'T suffer, why not tell the class how you think it will. I have no crystal ball but feel that England/Wales would probably be better off without Scotland. I have a feeling; with the policy of free higher education and prescriptions that the rest of the UK is propping Scottish policy up a little. If the current policies are costing more than the inhabitants of Scotland generate in taxes, you're fucked... end of. I think THAT is the reason that sanity prevailed at your last referendum and the reason that Sturgeon's reasoning for a further referendum is; at best, ill advised. Cut the ties with Westminster, you cut the ties with the cash-cow.
