Wanky flag? Men and women have fought and died under that flag, what's happened under the flag of St George in living memory, a few patio chairs and glasses launched across squares and a dozen or so s

  • Yes!

  • SNP have no fucking shame, they are like Scotch Scousers.

If Wee Jimmy wants to win a vote, just put some lies on the side of a bus and people will vote for it.

  • 5 months later...

Surprised no one has bumped this now that the SNP are at it again.

She thinks they can fuck off, rejoin the EU and yet maintain the UK Pound (obviously doesn't fancy the Euro). When I say 'she', I am convinced that slimy fucker Salmond is pulling the strings.

Can't see any way TM is going to agree to another referendum before the UK is officially out of the EU and so she shouldn't when there are far bigger fish to fry.

Getting a lot of coverage down here - especially her asking English folk who voted to Remain to move to Scotland.

Not even convinced that the Scots would take kindly to another one - especially in the light of the revelation that Scotland does 4 times the trade it does with the EU with the rest of the UK.

Delores Umbridge is borderline childlike with her actions..

They have no regard for Britain, no regard for British issues, and are ignoring the majority of the country who voted to remain in the UK.

Its embarrassingly that every debate in the commons gets flipped by them to be about Scottish independence... they don't add anything to the debates worth while. She seems to forget they are there to represent all scotland.. not just that issue.

Building on boltys point.. if they had import and export duty on 80% of their trade, they would be goosed.

This is when she will be at her best/most popular though isn't it? She can kick off knowing full well it's not going to happen and in the safe knowledge she won't have to put any legislation together. She can just keep banging the impossible drum

Let them fuck off and suffer if they want to.

Fuck her.

Let them fuck off and suffer if they want to.

Fuck her.

This (except I wouldn't, she's repulsive)

Long term I hope they stay - we're stronger as a union - where have I said that before :-)

The way I see it - Scotland voted to stay in the UK in the knowledge that the UK was about to have a referendum on whether to remain in the EU. The UK of which they are part then voted as a people to leave the EU. That's the way it works.

Let em go if they want to. England would be better off without them. We'd also save a fortune from Barnett.

Said Cameron about Brexit

Said Cameron about Brexit

Yes, I thought this as I typed it out, but krankie would be more like a farage type and effectively finished if she got what she wanted.

They don't want to go according to the same logic we use for brexit.

She wants an independent Scotland that is until they leave the union when she would then join the EU which then makes Scotland not independent. The SNP have one agenda and that's hate the Union, they say you do not know what you have until you lose it, this is exactly the case here, the SNP are a shower of shite.

Difference being brexit was a yes independence a no. Material change clause in snp manifesto so that gives her the ability to raise in holyrood. She will get it passed there as snp have nearly all msp's in there so it's down to May to decide. She won't allow it to happen pre brexit but will allow a date say 1 year post brexit. And then if I was betting on it they will get independence unless we have a free trade deal which is unlikely

All,roads point to Scottish independence which may not bother any of you but for folk who live there it's a horrible thought. But as someone will point out it's a choice to live there.

How can you have a policy in your manifesto if you can't control.

Just deluded fuckwits.

If they want to go, fine, but they don't

If they want endless referenda, then fine, but they should pay for it.

As I've said I firmly believe if they get the referendum they will vote out. Overwhelming majority voted to remain in uk that what will push it in favour of leaving the union.

Agree Scottish govt should pay as they did for the 1st one. No doubt about it.

Anyone who thinks Scotland leaving the U.K. would benefit the U.K. is a complete mentalist

Work it out simplistically with the Barnett formula all you like, it's like saying Greater London would be better on its own as it pays an uneven share to the rest of England / UK (which it does). Greater London benefits from having many head offices based there paying tax however these firms make their money accross the whole of the UK. If you start carving it up you just lead to firms splitting businesses up and having offices in different regions paying tax separately

It would be a complete disaster again and it's the usual faces on here thinking it would be great. The sky wouldn't fall in granted but it wouldn't be good for jobs or prosperity. The Union must be kept together!

I think Sturgeon doesn't want a referendum but is using this to leverage a seat at the table when planning BREXIT. As she said why do the Japanese over at Nissan get a say when Scotland doesn't and I can kind of see her point

Agree 100% would be a disaster. But 100% disagree that she doesn't want this referendum. This is her legacy and will be her fortune. She is a mini salmond as per boltys comments I agree he's lurking pulling her strings

London would pay more being so big and having many businesses and being a finance/service industry centre.

How many of these big corporates pay their full dues though?

London also has a massive spend on it to keep it from sinking/flooding and to keep transport functioning.

People now commuting from miles away as can't afford to live there.

If London went on its own both it and rest of England would be harmed.

Don't know the figures and whilst I take your point, the two situations aren't that comparable.

I agree we're better of with Scotland in the uk; things are just easier as they are- but if Scotland chose to go on their own I'm not sure the rest of the UK would be that badly affected but Scotland would be- even if it was just anti Scottish sentiment.

Scotland does OK as it is but that is because it is part of the UK. It receives more per head of population than England but it takes in more in income tax than it receives from the Government.

They had a referendum not long ago, it would be wrong to have another so soon.

Realistically they are a country of just over 5 million. They are subsidised by England to the hilt, yet its never enough. Free prescriptions, university places etc etc.

Their largest market is England. If they want to go then let em. It really will not hurt England. Many countries in eastern Europe and former Yugoslavia have gained independence this last 25 years. Its never the disaster people make out.  You seem terrified of change. Change is very often the thing that sparks opportunities and prosperity.

You're reet.

Again.

Fucking stop it. :)

Ha ha yes the old Soviet bloc is a fantastic example.

Do you really think England just subsidises Scotland and they sit there with their begging bowls? I think you might do.

It seems many Brexit folk also want Scotland to go.

I thought we wanted to preserve British values and way of life ?
