See this is what I don't get. Multiculturalism is a failed experiment.

 

You can have a multiethnic society where all individuals adhere to the same laws and values but you cannot pander those who look inward and reject integration and put their belief system above all else.

Societies where everybody adheres to the same laws and values don't exist. Even amongst us on here - we've all got different ideas about what's right and wrong. Although I take your point that some communities are more outward looking than others.

 

I suppose I wasn't using the word multiculturalism in its literal sense - if you mean in to be having 2 or more entirely separate cultures living harmoniously side by side. What I meant was we tend to have a more live and let live attitude over here.

 

And in my experience of Muslim lads - especially the ones born in the UK absolutely identify with being British.

 

Take some of the British Pakistani lads I know - when they visit Pakistan (judging by their Facebook updates) they can't wait to come back to what they consider to be 'normal'. They might identify with the the land their ancestors came from - but Bolton is 'home'.

Well it hasn't so far and as the increase in hate crimes we keep hearing about seems to amount to no more than some dirty looks and chavs swearing at brown people on public transport I think it is a long way off.

So we deport everybody who's on a watch list (who haven't necessarily done anything illegal) to a state which doesn't currently exist - thereby tacitly acknowledging it's existence? Are we sending their families and kids as well? And if not how are we dealing with that little aftermath in waiting? And where are we dropping them off? Or are we just going to be pushing them out of a plane with a parachute on and hoping they land in the right place?

 

If that's vision then I'll stick to being a 'wet'.
