Islamic State

Why are we not bombing the fuck out of this lot with the yanks? I can understand why the Commons voted against not to get involved with the Syria thing. But this is different. If anyone needs blasting to fuck it's these cunts.

It's looking more than likely he was a nut job, however the jury still out for me until they find out how he got the weapon

Getting a weapon really isn't difficult. Any one of us could probably go out now and have a fire arm within a couple of hours. Getting a gun is a piece of piss, if you don't think it is then you don't live in the real world

Is that really true?

In all honesty, I wouldn't know where to start- especially given the rocket has gone.

And if that's not real world I'm happy to live in a fantasy.

I suppose it depends where you live. I have a "mate" who is a dealer, he has a Glock, he bought it for £350 a few weeks ago. I believe it's quite easy to acquire this sort of thing if you really want to.

This conspiracy mindset is at least as much of a threat to our way of life as Islamic fundamentalism is in my view.

There is quite a widespread and popular belief that none of the institutions that have made countries in the west stable and functional can be trusted. Police, government, media, judiciary, academia and so on and so forth.

Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't have a healthy scepticism and a questioning attitude when it comes to people in positions of power, but holding the stock position that you're always being lied to is regressive.

Worrying though it is, and horrifying as it is when atrocities take place, I don't consider Islamic fundamentalism to be a genuine threat to our way of life. I just can't see an ISIS flag flying over Downing Street in a hundred years under any eventuality. But what I can see are things becoming very messy indeed if the next generation are even more beholden to conspiracy theories than the current.

Gun laws extremely tight in Germany have to be 25 and have physchatric tests, given the problems with terrorism I'd think anyone selling black market guns would think deeply about selling to an 18 year old part Iranian, there's more to this than meets the eye and until the police state where the gun comes from I'll reserve judgement I'll guess that that info won't be released by the police.

Thing is, Germany is in the middle or Europe, I would imagine guns can transit from ex Soviet states quite easily. I doubt the fire arm used was a licenced one

A quick Google shows that Germany has x5 the amount of gun crime we have here in the UK...so clearly there are plenty of guns around

I don't think the kind of person who sells guns is likely to give a shit. That's if he actually bought it directly from someone selling it on the black market and not just off some smack head. Remember also that you can pretty much get hold of whatever you want on the 'dark web'.

You're right though - there probably is plenty more to this - but why not just wait until things are a little clearer before jumping to conclusions about it?

I've not jumped to any conclusions yet, your saying exactly what I'm saying more information needs to come to light and we should wait to see what seeps out over the next week or so. Alternatively the powers that be might just sweep it under the carpet there very good at that in Europe.????

How's covering things up all of a sudden become a "European problem"?

Oh I know why.....

I see where you are coming from Mounts. Given Germany's recent history there is a clear mindset at the political level, authorities and press to ensure that the  right never rises again and they feel obliged atone for the former sins of their ancestors.

So when something like Cologne occurred and it is became apparent that it is immigrants who have transgressed, there was a natural tendency for the authorities and press to downplay the origins of the perpetrators.

Sweden is worse as this article demonstrates:

The difference is - I'm saying until further facts come to light that suggest otherwise - we should believe the people who's job it is to investigate it.

Just seen a picture of German gunman.

Raygun all day long

Gun laws are tight in Germany. But Germany shares a land border with the Czech Republic, where guns can be obtained very easily.

I thought we'd established he was a raygun but were unsure of his motivation?

Machete attack in Stuttgart now??

Facts coming out include:

The shootist was born in Germany to parents recently (at that time) immigrants from Iran.

The victims largely seem to have been acquaintances from his schooldays who 'bullied' him, most of whom were of Turkish origin. Of those others killed at least one was of Albanian extraction.

Happening again, Just in from the Guardian online:

"A man wielding a machete has killed a woman and wounded two other people in the southern German city of Reutlingen before being arrested, the Bild newspaper has reported.

German police said that the man was a Syrian asylum-seeker who had been involved in previous incidents."

How is he still on the street if he's been involved in pervious incidents? Crackers.
